Annetha Haid

Annetha Haid, 89, Bismarck, died February 1, 2015, at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, February 7, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hazelton, ND, with Rev. Eugene Roecker officiating. Burial will be in the Hazelton City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday, February 6, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Annetha was born March 13, 1925, at Hazelton, ND, to Theophil and Barbara Mitzel Gimbel. She spent her entire life in the Hazelton area except for a short time when she worked at a canning factory in Sunnyside, WA. She returned to Hazelton to marry Andrew Haid on his return from the service on December 5, 1943. Annetha worked at the Fode's Super Value Store in Hazelton in her earlier married years, quitting at the birth of her third child, when she became a full-time farm wife. She worked alongside her husband, milking cows, raising chickens, gardening, helping plant the crops, driving grain trucks, and her favorite, making hay. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing many outfits for her children, grandchildren, and others; including prom dresses, and even a granddaughter's wedding dress. The sound of the sewing machine could often he heard in the late night hours after she had put in a full-days' work. Annetha was an excellent cook, putting a good meal together at the drop of a hat, her caramel rolls were the best ever! She and Andy loved to dance the old-time polkas and waltzes, once winning special recognition at Oktoberfest in Winnipeg. She enjoyed traveling and sight-seeing. In later years, she enjoyed playing cards and trips to the casinos, and she spent hours on her lawn mower taking care of her large yard. Annetha adored the latest additions to the family, her five great-great-grandchildren. Annetha moved to Bismarck in February 2014 to be closer to her children. She made several new friends, during her stay at Crescent Manor. Annetha is survived by her daughter, Darlene Allen David Ternes, Flasher, ND; three sons, Allen Donna, Lead, SD, and Tucson, AZ, Donald Janeen, Bismarck, and Loren Tammy, Bismarck; and her six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Clayton; husband, Andy; grandson, Allen; son-in-law, Mike Allen; her best friend and sister-in-law, Lydia Gimbel; her parents; and four siblings.
