Anthony Niemann

Anthony Reese Niemann, 61, Bismarck, our beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, mentor and friend, passed away at St. Alexius Medical Center on May 17, 2004, surrounded by family and friends. Services will be held at McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck on Thursday, May 20th at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be 11 AM to 9 PM Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, where a prayer service will begin at 7 PM that evening. Tony was born May 10, 1943 in Wichita Kansas to Dale and Mary Prock Niemann. They moved to Mandan, ND, where he graduated from Mandan High School in 1961. He went on to graduate from St. Alexius Hospital School of X-Ray Technology in 1966. Tony married Cindy Fairman Brunmeier in Bismarck, ND on June 28, 1974. Tony spent his entire working career at St. Alexius Medical Center Radiology Department, where he loved his job and his co-workers. He mentored many employees in his 38 years with the hospital. He had retired on May 7th, 2004. Tony had a great passion for life, his Harley-Davidson and all of the wonderful friends he made in the motorcycle community. He and Cindy spent countless hours on their bike, and enjoyed many beautiful trips on it. Tony was also an avid hunter and fisherman, past president of NISHU Bow Club, past president of North Dakota Society of Radiologic Techs, member of American Society of Radiologic Techs, Central Dakota HOGs, and Retreads of North Dakota. Tony played guitar and sang in various bands from the late 50's through the 70's, some of which were, Davey Bee and the Sonics, Dave Scott and the Scottsmen, Stillwater, and Yellowstone County. Leaving behind, his wife and soul-mate, Cindy Niemann, Bismarck, ND; his mother, Mary Niemann and her special friend, Ed Ottenbacher, Bismarck, ND; his daughter and son-in law, Cheryl and Garret Davis, Chaska, MN; his son, William Niemann and his special friend, Tawnie Huber, Bismarck ND; his daughter, Wendy Niemann and her special friend, George Tschida, Mandan, ND; his grandchildren, Justin and Caitlin Davis, Chaska MN; and also, his extended family, the St. Alexius Heart Cath. Lab, hospital staff, all of his wonderful friends, and his little buddies, Dolly and Daisy. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Niemann. The family wishes to thank all of the doctors and staff at St. Alexius Medical Center for their compassion and professionalism, and all of Tony's co-workers and friends for being there in our time of need. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be sent to the St. Alexius Foundation, Attention Radiologic Tech Fund, PO Box 5521, Bismarck ND 58502-5521.
