Augusta Pearson

Augusta Pearson, 86, Wing, passed away September 27, 2006, in Fargo, ND. A celebration of Augusta's life will be held Saturday, September 30, at 10 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Wing, with the Rev. Muriel Lippert and the Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Burial will be at the Wing Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 AM - 9 PM Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Augusta Georgia Pearson was born September 27, 1920 in Chapin, ND, the daughter of Thomas and Josie Hanwell. She was raised and graduated from Wilton High School in 1938. She received a teaching degree in Minot at Minot Teachers College in 1940. She taught in a country school north of Wilton, ND. Augusta also worked at Gray's Drug for two years. During World War II she moved to Washington State and worked in a ship yard. While she was in Washington she was united in marriage to Ruben A. Pearson on July 26, 1943. Upon returning they made their home in Wilton, ND, operating several bars and a bowling alley. In 1956 they purchased a farm NE of Wing. They farmed and made that there home until 1985, at which time they bought a home in Wing. Ruben passed away January 3, 1991. Augusta was active in the Wing Congregational Church, Ladies Aide, Wing Homemakers, and served as a democratic judge at elections. She accomplished all this while raising her three boys plus assisting in all the farming operations. Weekends were usually spent in Wilton or at the farm. Her home was a welcoming place for her nieces and nephews, grandchildren, friends and neighbors. Augusta was known for always having hot coffee and a delicious meal and pleasant conversation. Many evenings and afternoons were spent playing cards of canasta, whist, and skipbo. Augusta was the cornerstone of her family. She was a role model for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made a lasting impression on all the lives she touched. Augusta was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her three sons, Robert, Fargo, ND, Ronald Sheryle, and Eric Susan, all of Bismarck, ND; six grandchildren, Camille Scott Pearson Walz, Maple Plain, MN, Marci Terry Dvorak, Dickinson, ND, Jon Darlene, Devils Lake, ND, Ronnie Jr., Jason, and Carmen, all of Bismarck, ND; three step-grandchildren, Jennifer Hanna, Lori Chad Renken, and Desiree Shane Herman; nine grandchildren, Brooke and Austin Pearson, Kass, Sadi, and Kaden Dvorak, William and Joshua Walz, and Jamison Lincoln, and Devon Dean; nine step-great-grandchildren, Zachariah and Teal Hanna, Logan, Broden, and Treyson Renken, Brianna, Morgan, MaKyia, and Ava Grace Herman; twenty three nieces and nephews; a wonderful caregiver, Mary Ann Lippert; sisters-in-law, Delores Hanwell, Mary Pearson, and Helen Marvin Johnson; and brothers-in-law, Douglas Cathy Pearson and John Lambros. She was preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings, Amelia Rise, Francis Bartholomew, Thomas Hanwell, Virgil Hanwell, and Robert Hanwell.
