Donna Belle Henry Perry

Donna Belle Henry Perry, 79, Bismarck, died February 4, 2008. Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck with Rev. Jake Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan. There will be no visitation. Donna Belle Henry Perry was born on September 7, 1928 in Westhope, ND to Howard and Arline Henry. She graduated from Westhope HS in 1946. While in HS she was All-state basketball player. She entered the University of North Dakota in 1946 and majored in English and Journalism. In the summer of 1948, she interned at the Washington Post. During her Jr. year at UND she met her future husband, Duncan Perry, who was attending UND prior to entering the School of Dentistry at Northwestern University in Chicago. After graduating from UND in 1950, Donna followed Duncan to Chicago and became Editor of the Chicago Order Book, the official directory of the Wholesale Furniture Market. While in Chicago, she also did some part-time modeling for Greyson's Studios and modeled furs for local television advertisers. She and Duncan were married on June 16, 1951. After Dr. Perry finished dental school they returned to Bismarck where he practiced dentistry until retiring in 1998. From 1977 to 1998, Donna was the office manager for Dr. Perry's dental practice. While raising a family of four in Bismarck, Donna joined the ND Dental Auxiliary and was active for many years, ultimately serving as President. Donna was a vital and active member of the community; over her years in Bismarck, she was a member of numerous groups and organizations including the Wednesday Study Club, an investment club, two ladies bridge marathons, a couple's bridge marathon, a Bible study, prayer group, Apple Creek Country Club and the First Presbyterian Church. She served as chair or co-chair of several fund-raising events over the years. She enjoyed golf, bridge, camping and biking with Duncan, and all kinds of needle work. Donna was a lifelong poet and avid reader. She was a wonderful, patient and loyal friend to many and will be missed dearly by friends and family. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Duncan R. Perry of Bismarck, ND; her four children; Barbara Perry of Bismarck, ND, Bruce Barbara Perry of Houston, TX, John Perry of Rock Creek, MT and Burt Moffat of Fargo, ND; her 10 grandchildren, Ansley Cichy, Becca Cichy and Kate Cichy, Jay Emily Perry, Elizabeth Perry, Katharine Perry, Martha Perry and Robert Perry, Rivers Perry and Alysha Moffat as well as one great-grandchild, Madeline Perry; her two sisters, Roberta Jim Hesketh of Minneapolis, MN and Phyllis Bill McGinley of Indianapolis, IN; and two brothers, Darrell Joann Henry of Westhope, ND and Gordon Pat Henry of Grand Forks, ND.
