Evelyn Price Giese

Evelyn Price Giese, 90, Robinson, died May 12, 2014, at Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, ND. Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 16, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Robinson, with Rev. Valerie Kinlan officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery, Robinson. Visitation will also be held from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm Thursday, May 15, at Eastgate-Steele Memorial Chapel, Steele, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Evelyn Shirley was born May 6, 1924, in Robinson, ND, and lived in Kidder County most of her life. She was the youngest and last surviving child of Gustav Shirley and Petra Hanson Shirley. Evelyn was educated in the Robinson schools. Her half-siblings, children of Gust and his first wife, Othilda Weik, were Arthur, Minnie, Gladys, and Gilma; her full-siblings, children of Gust and his second wife, Petra Hanson, were Hilda, Orville, Agnes, Melvin, Gilbert, Edna, Edwin, and Glen. Evelyn married Bruce Arthur Price on January 27, 1943, at Steele, ND. Bruce and Evelyn Price farmed on the Checkerboard Farm southwest of Robinson until they semi-retired to Robinson in 1976, wintering in Arizona. Bruce passed away in 1990. Evelyn married Clifford Giese in 1994 and they enjoyed travel together until his death in 2000. Evelyn was active in the Bethany Lutheran Church in Robinson, its Sunday School, choir, and ladies aid. She also sang alto in the community choir. Evelyn's other hobbies included embroidery, community dances, and bowling. She was renowned as an excellent cook and hostess and made delicious buns and caramel rolls. Her friends and family brought her much joy. Evelyn is survived by three children and their spouses, Dennis Renee Schaner Price, Tuttle, Judy Robert Cook, Lomita, CA, and Dale Jane Benson Price, Jamestown; nine grandchildren, Travis, Heather, Kevin and Kyle Price, Brenda Cook Boelter, Michael Cook, Chad and Jessie Price, and Paula Price Ohnstad; three step-grandchildren, Erin Anderson, Michael and Matthew Caulfield; great-grandchildren, Cora Evelyn, Breanna, Lauren, Alexander, Brandon, and Wyatt; and extended great-grandchildren, Chase, Easton, Jersey, Brekkyn, Brilehe, Brinlehe, Kiley, Kadon, Seth, and Rylie. Evelyn lived in Medcenter One Golden Manor in Steele from 2003 to 2009, when she moved to Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown.
