Fredrich Martin, Jr.

Fredrich Martin, Jr., 94, died June 4, 2004 in a Bismarck hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Steele with the Rev. Paul Tjostem officiating. Burial will be at Glueckstal Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2 - 9 PM at Eastgate Steele Chapel. Fred was born March 25, 1910, south of Tappen, ND, in Valley Township in Kidder County to Fredrich, Sr. and Margaretha Mittleider Martin. He was raised and educated in that area. On October 25, 1932, Fred and Anna Werre were married at the Glueckstal Lutheran Church southwest of Tappen. They farmed in Valley Township until 1975. In 1976, they moved into Steele, ND, where they lived until July of 1998, when they moved to Bismarck, ND. Fred was a member of Glueckstal Lutheran Church until 1977, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Steele. He served on church, school, and township boards. He believed in hard work and living life to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and card playing. Fred was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by those who survive him, his wife, Anna of Bismarck, ND; three sons and daughters-in-law, Hilbert and Crystal Martin and Donald and Deborah Martin, all of Bismarck, ND, and James and Karen Martin of Sheldon, IA; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Arnold Hoff of Fargo, ND; Marilyn Lott of Escondido, CA, Cynthia and Quentin Carlson of Glenburn, ND, and Albert Wolf of Jamestown, ND; eight granddaughters, Sherry Lambert, Audrey Grosz, Deborah Leno, Judith Butler, Renee Lott, Tammy Green, Jamie Cushman, and Leah Carlson; ten grandsons, Mark and Kirby Wolf, Douglas and David Hoff, Robert Lott, Byron, Peter, and Fred Martin, and Nathan and Paul Carlson; 18 great grandchildren; three brothers and five sisters-in-law, Walter and Frieda Martin of Bismarck, ND, David and Alvina Martin and Tilmon Martin all of Steele, ND, Martha Martin of Steele, ND, and Erna Martin of Crystal Springs, ND; six sisters, and two-brothers-in-law, Carolina Geist of Tappen, ND, Emma Morlock of Jamestown, ND, Tabea Patzner-Mueller of Dawson, ND, Lydia Morlock of Pettibone, ND, Esther Guthmiller of Carrington, ND, Norma and Jim Poll of Columbus, OH, and Albert, Guthmiller of Jamestown, ND; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lillian Wolf; his great grandson, Matthew Green; three brothers, John, Israel, and baby Louie Martin; four sisters, Mary Wall, Leah and Verna Guthmiller, and baby girl, Martin; and two brothers-in-law, Gust Geist and Lawrence Guthmiller
