Harold Morrison

Harold Townley Morrison, 86, died February 15, 2004 in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at the Robinson United Methodist Church, Robinson, with the Rev. Perry Schnabel officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Robinson. Visitation will be from 9 AM - 9 PM Thursday at Eastgate Steele Memorial Chapel, Steele. Harold was born September 16, 1917 in Bowdon, ND to Albert "Bert" and Catherine Cranmer Morrison. He lived at Bowdon until 1926 when he moved to Lake Williams, ND and then to Robinson, ND, graduating from Robinson High School in 1937. Harold taught in rural schools for two years and served in the ND House of Representatives for two sessions, 1941 & 1943. Harold married Florine Aichele on June 17, 1942 in Bismarck, ND. After their marriage they lived in Robinson, where Harold farmed for a short time. Harold later managed Morrison Brothers Implement for 34 years, retiring in 1982. He also drove school bus for Robinson School District for 13 years. Harold enjoyed playing cards, reading, gardening, flying, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always more than willing to help out others. He was also very civic minded serving as the Mayor of Robinson and as a city council member for 21 years. Harold was a member of the Robinson United Methodist Church, the Robinson Lions Club as a charter member and secretary for 28 years, 50 year Masonic member, and the Robinson Diamond Jubilee Board of Directors in 1986. Harold is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, DeeOn and Dwight Mack, Max, ND and Gail Martin, Carrington, ND; grandchildren, DeWitt and Pam Mack, Mandan, ND, Steve and Dawn Ziegler, Hazen, ND, Darren and Tonya Mack, Detroit Lakes, MN, Jared Martin, Woodworth, ND, and Evan Martin, Woodworth, ND; great grandchildren, Dwight J., Shaylynn, and Casey Mack, Samantha, DeeAnna, and Stephanie Ziegler, and Erin Mack; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Dr. Robert and Edna Mae Chambers, Tacoma, WA, Duane and Jeanne Morrison, Robinson, ND, and Irene Kaczmarski, Cooperstown, ND; one sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Bill Carter, San Diego, CA; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John & Florence Aichele, Centralia, WA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Florine; his parents; and one brother, Burdette Morrison. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Robinson Lions Club or donor's choice.
