Johanna Geiger

Jane Johanna Geiger, 94, Bismarck, died October 12, 2008, at Medcenter One St. Vincent’s Care Center. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:30 pm Friday, October 17, 2008, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with Rev. John Guthrie. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, October 15, 2008, and from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm Thursday, October 16, 2008, at Eastgate Funeral Service, and from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm Thursday at St. Vincent’s Care Center and will resume from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service. A Catholic Daughters rosary will begin at 7:00 pm Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Johanna was born August 1, 1914, in Beulah, ND, the daughter of Peter and Margaret Klein Thomas. She married Dominic Geiger at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, on November 5, 1938. Through the years she worked at the ND State Capitol, JC Penney, Ace Hardware, and in the lunch room at Roosevelt Elementary School. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Red Hat Society. Johanna’s door was always open with the coffee pot on and hot caramel rolls in the oven. She loved family and friends. She was a special lady with a loving heart and will truly be missed. Johanna is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Jerry Young of Tualatin, OR, and Janet Ron Flick of Bismarck, ND; two sons and daughters-in-law, D. Richard Marylee of Spearfish, SD, and Gerald Susan of Audubon, MN; eleven grandchildren, Dominique Young of Lake Oswego, OR, Ryan Young of Beaverton, OR, Jon Young of Tigard, OR, Curtis Annie McGarvey of Bismarck, ND, Summer Flick Mark Peterson of Vancouver, WA, Josh Ani Flick of Vancouver, WA, Cole Missy Uecker of Bismarck, ND, Leslie Anne Geiger of St. Paul, MN, Matthew Geiger of San Diego, CA, Trevor Geiger of Fargo, ND, and Todd Geiger of Bemidji, MN, and nine great-grandchildren, Piper, Molly, Madison, Isabella, Bennett, Hendrix, Jacob, Issac and Joey; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends, especially her “Skip-O” partner and special caregiver, Pauline Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dominic; her parents; and four brothers, Louie, John, Alex and Tommy.
