Marcia Johnson

Marcia Evelyn Johnson, 88, Bismarck, passed away August 5, 2009, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday at Our Saviour’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Carl Lindemann officiating. Burial be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Marcia was born June 23, 1921, on the family farm near Leith, ND to William and Nellie Emch Kamrath. She attended school in Leith and graduated from Leith High School in 1939. She married Edwin R. Johnson on August 18, 1941, in Glendive, MT. They moved to a farm east of Leith which they operated until 1978, when they retired to Carson, ND. While living near Leith she taught Sunday School, Bible School and sang in the Church Choir. She was a member of Grant County Homemakers Clubs for 51 years and held several different offices in the organization. In 1989, Edwin and Marcia moved to Bismarck. They greatly enjoyed traveling to visit children, grandchildren, and great grand-children. Family was very special to her.She enjoyed the garden and flower gardens and also did some crafts. Marcia was a member of Our Saviour’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and was active in the Mission Society helping with various projects. She served as a volunteer worker at the North Dakota State Heritage Center. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Edwin; three sons and daughters in-law, Gary and Diana Grandpre, Pierre, SD, Wayne and Linda Beadles, Benbrook, TX, and Randy and Marcia Heins, St. Joseph, MO; three granddaughters, Tracy and Mark Benson, Rapid City, SD, Julie and Rob Stanford, Keller, TX, and Alisa and Don Whitley, Alexandria, VA; and three grandsons, Robert and Mindy Hudson, Columbia, MO, Eric and Tara Row, Oklahoma City, OK, and Brady, Colorado Springs, CO; and her great grand-children, Aaron, Nicholas, and Gunnar Benson, Jordan and Kyleigh Johnson, Cole, Carley, and Caroline Johnson, and Ainsley and Kinsley Stanford. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Dwight, Clair, Claude, Cyril, and Roswell; and two sisters, Ardath in infancy and Mildred Lehman.
