Margaret Vetter

Margaret Marie Vetter Bootsie, 85, of Midland, MI, formerly of Zeeland and Bismarck, ND, died Saturday evening, January 2, 2010, at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland. She dealt with multiple health issues throughout her lifetime, always with a positive attitude, and had a peaceful death. She was deeply loved and admired and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010, at the Church of St. Anne, 1321 Braman Ave. in Bismarck with the Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. next to her husband in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. with a prayer vigil service beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, at Eastgate Funeral Service. Visitation will continue Thursday one hour before services at the church. Margaret was born on February 18, 1924, in Minneapolis, MN, daughter of the late Peter Joseph and Baldina Barriether Hasenmueller. She was raised and educated in Zeeland, ND. On July 26, 1941, she married John W. Vetter in Tacoma, WA, and relocated with her husband many times during his military career living in Washington, California, Wyoming, Tennessee, and Alabama. She returned to North Dakota when he was overseas in WWII. They then raised their family in Zeeland and moved to Bismarck in 1997. They were married for nearly 58 years when her husband died on March 27, 1999. After his death she moved to Midland, MI, living with her daughter and son-in-law. While in Midland she attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Margaret had a great love for animals and enjoyed pets throughout her life. Spring was her favorite time of year particularly when the trees and flowers started blooming. She loved baking and sharing with people and corresponding with her friends. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In later years she enjoyed going to movies, eating out and shopping. Grateful to have shared her life is her daughter Sylvia Hilt and her husband David of Midland; four grandchildren, Lisa Wald and her husband John Ekman of Golden Valley, MN; John Wald and his wife Emily Abbett-Wald of Eagle, CO; Lori Hilt and her fiancée Andrew Greenberg of Madison, WI; and Heidi Baker and her husband Andrew of Shelby Township, MI; and five great-grandchildren, Katherine and Elizabeth Ekman, Ella Wald, and twins Jack and Mason Baker. Also surviving are her two brothers, Peter Hasenmueller of Hayward, CA, and Kenneth Hasenmueller and his wife Alyce of Chippewa Falls, WI, and numerous relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her daughter, Marcella Wald, June 13, 2003; by five brothers, Edward, Robert, Charles, Donald, and Francis Hasenmueller, and five sisters, Anna Mae Glur, Rose Mary Hasenmueller, Geraldine Benning, Mary Luella Merrigan and Marcella Wittmayer.
