Marilyn Wangen

Marilyn Wangen, 67, Bismarck, died May 31, 2004, at a Bismarck hospital after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Pastor Laurie Natwick officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 PM at the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery in Mandan. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 AM - 9 PM at Boelter-Eastgate Funeral Service, 200 W. Turnpike Ave., Bismarck, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Marilyn Neff was born on July 3, 1936, in Sheridan County, North Dakota, the daughter of Christ and Ida Hoffer Neff. She was raised and attended schools in Pickardville and McClusky. She married Ardie Wangen on September 25, 1953, at St. John's Lutheran Church south of Martin, North Dakota. They lived in various communities including Harvey, Fargo, and Pierre, before moving to Bismarck in 1963 where they have since lived. Marilyn worked at Tempo, Herbergers, and Wal-mart in retail. Marilyn was an excellent seamstress and sewed everything from shirts to suits. She also enjoyed quilting. Marilyn enjoyed life fully and loved being outdoors and fishing and camping. She cherished being with people whether it was playing cards, preparing a good meal, or sitting in the sun and having a nice visit. She is survived by her husband, Ardie of Bismarck; her daughters, Delta Wangen, Lori Hartman and Ken Ciavarella, and Diana Rader, all of Bismarck; her sons and daughter-in-law, Claude Wangen of Mandan, Dwight Wangen of Bismarck, David and Eldora Wangen of Anamoose, North Dakota, and Bryan Wangen and his fiancÚe, RaeAnne Johnson of Lincoln; her grandchildren, Cody, Jennifer, Scott, Melissa, Vanessa, Brenda, Christina, Sarah, Kyle, Makayla, Samantha, and Brittany; her great-granddaughter, Rebecca; her sisters and brother-in-law, Ella Tkach of McFarland, Wisconsin, Irene Yarbrough of Macclenny, Florida, and Virginia and Wayne Johnson of Colstrip, Montana; her brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Peggy Neff of Tacoma, Washington; and her special friends, Darlene Appelt and Susan Frymark. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Roy; her grandson; her sister; and an infant brother.
