Mark Krenz

Mark R. Krenz, 53, Blue Springs, MO, formerly of ND,died February 27, 2010, after a four year battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Burial will be held in the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck where a prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Mark was born in Mohall, ND, on February 28, 1956, the son of R. Paul and Rosemarie Johnson Krenz. Mark attended Mohall High School where he competed in track, football, was a member of the FFA, and graduated in 1975. Mark served in the US Marine Corps from 1975 until 1978. His unit was attached to a naval destroyer and had tours in the Mediterranean and South Pacific. He returned to North Dakota and attended North Dakota State University where he met his soul-mate and future wife, Chris. They were married in Ypsilanti, ND, on December 27, 1980. Mark continued to farm and ranch while completing his college education at NDSU where he graduated in 1985. Mark and Chris moved to Blue Springs, MO, a suburb of Kansas City, in 1985, where they worked together in banking and finance. He and Chris started their own financial consulting firm in 1998, and they travelled throughout the United States and briefly in India, doing consulting work. Mark was a member of the ND Stockmen’s Association, the Sherwood, North Dakota American Legion, and Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs. Although, their work kept them busy, their priority continued to be spending as much time as possible with family on both sides. Mark was a constant source of inspiration and a true friend to all he met. In spite of the medical complications Mark faced, he maintained a Semper Fi attitude in his life. Mark is survived by his wife, Chris, Blue Springs, MO; his mother, Rosie, Minot, ND; his sisters, Brenda John Miller, Bismarck, Pamela Tim Klabo, Antler, ND, and Penny Mike Foster, Ypsilanti, MI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; and an infant brother, Paul. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, www.semperfi.org.
