Martha Marty Bell

Martha "Marty" Bell, 64, Bismarck, died March 2, 2012, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, March 7, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Jeffrey Olson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Aldrich, MO. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, March 6, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Marty was born November 16, 1947, the daughter of William Francis and Martha Kathleen Grant Bellman of Walnut Grove, MO. Marty attended school in the Springfield, MO, area. When she was 11 years old, she was placed in a children's home following her mother's illness. Marty then lived with her first foster parents, Bob and Joan Vaughn of Strafford, MO. Due to unfortunate circumstances, she was placed back in the children's home until her junior year of high school when she was placed in the home she calls home today, that of Leonard and Francis Bailey. She graduated from Fair Grove High School in Fair Grove, MO, in 1966. For two years she attended College of the Ozarks at Point Lookout, MO, south of Branson, MO. In October 1968, she moved to Bismarck, ND. In May 1972, she began working for the State Capitol Director of Institutions, now known as Facility Management, as elevator operator, weekend security, and custodian. In June of 1975, she married Gilbert "Pete" Heid. They remained close friends even after their divorce. Marty attended Evangel Assembly of God. She then met Gordon Keith Bell and they were married July 7, 2007. Keith and Marty attended both First Evangelical Free Church and Bible Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed helping others whenever she could. She is survived by her husband, Gordon Keith Bell, Bismarck; her twin sister and brother-in-law, Melinda and Dave Leigh; her brother, David; her foster parents, Leonard and Frances Bailey; one foster sister, Coleen Cooper and her family; foster brother, Curt Bailey and his family; her first foster mother; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Kenneth; two sisters, Norma Jean Bellman and Dorinda Daum; her first foster father, Bob Vaughn; and her special friend, Pete Heid.
