Meryl T. Beauclair

Meryl T. Beauclair, 86, died December 25, 2013, at a Sanford Care Center in Mandan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck with Rev. Msgr. Thomas Richter officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Minot, ND, in the spring. A vigil service will be held on Friday at 7:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Meryl Therise was born on May 13, 1927, at New Rockford, ND, the daughter of Albert O. and Edith Kolle Haavig. She grew up on the family farm near Fessenden, ND, and graduated from Fessenden High School. She married William J. Beauclair, a Navy Veteran of World War II, on June 10, 1947, in New Rockford. The family made their home in Minot, ND, where William worked for the Great Northern Railroad until his passing on June 5, 1965. Meryl worked at St. Leo's Rectory for Msgr. Hogan. She was the first secretary at Bishop Ryan High School. She worked for 25 years at Trinity Medical Center, retiring in 1992. Meryl was a member of the Homemakers Club, Square Dancers, Birthday Club, Parents Without Partners, Catholic Daughters, American Legion Auxiliary, Corpus Christi Guild, and Hospital Retirement Group. She enjoyed cooking and baking, needlework, shopping, and traveling; especially her trips to Europe. She is survived by her children, Blenda Burckhard of Bowling Green, KY, Greg of Bismarck, William of Bismarck, David Candy of Lincoln, ND, and Donald of North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Chad Burckhard of Bowling Green, KY, Chris Tracy Burckhard of Bowling Green, KY, Courtney Stephanie Burckhard of Nashville, TN, William Beauclair III USMC stationed in Hawaii, Justin, Ashley, and Brooke Beauclair of Lincoln, ND, and Gentry Lynn Beauclair of Phoenix, AZ; her sister, Hazel Dennis Maas of California; five great-grandchildren, Tanner, Paige, Zachary, Noah, and Elijah, all of Bowling Green, KY; and four sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Leo Beauclair of Bismarck, Jeanne Robert Engberg of San Antonio, TX, Merita Henry McCann of San Antonio, TX, and Jane Robert Beauclair of Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; and several half-brothers and half-sisters. Memorial can be made to Bishop Ryan High School, Minot, ND.
