Michael Fink

Michael F. Fink, 58, Bismarck, died June 23, 2004 in a local hospital. Services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Jake Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, with military rites by VFW Post 1326. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Sunday and 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday at Eastgate Funeral service where family will greet visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday evening. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Michael F. Fink was born November 20, 1945, in Minot, the son of Carl and Iva McPherson Fink. He was raised and educated in Minot. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. After returning home, he completed his education at NDSU and graduated in 1971 with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He moved to Bismarck in 1971 and went to work for Montana Dakota Utilities. He worked for MDU for 33 years and held the position of Gas Superintendent at the time of his death. Mike will be remembered for his commitment and service to his community. He was awarded the Community Spirit Award from MDU Resources in 1999. He was a member of the Bismarck City Planning and Zoning Committee for 18 years and held the position of Vice-Chairman at the time of his death. Mike was a member of the Board of Directors for the Genie-Watt Credit Union for 24 years. He had been president of the Board three times. He was active in the Bismarck Chamber of Commerce where he was on the Transportation Committee and served as the Chairman of the Excellence in Business Committee for the past three years. Mike had also been the Chairman and a volunteer in the Annual Folkfest Gumi Races. He was a volunteer for the Ruth Meyers House Indian Taco fund raising stand. Mike had a passion for hunting, fishing, and camping but most of all loved to spend time with his family and friends. He especially loved spoiling his granddaughters Makenzie and Emma. He was also known for his remarkable sense of humor, wit, and practical jokes. Michael is survived by his father and mother, Carl and Iva; two sons, Troy and Tad; a daughter, Tera; a son-in-law, Jason; his two granddaughters, Makenzie and Emma, all of Bismarck; his brother, Jerry of Minneapolis; as well as many nieces and nephews.
