Mikala Marie Jordan

Mikala Marie Jordan, 36, Bismarck, ND, passed away August 8, 2013, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND, from an almost three-year hard, long battle with lung cancer. Mikala had a determination that was unending to try and beat the odds of cancer. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Charity Lutheran Church in Bismarck, ND, with Pastor Randy Upgren officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bismarck, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 – 8:00 PM and Tuesday from 1:00 – 7:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Mikala Marie Diehl was born March 10, 1977, to Pamela Oberg and Charles Diehl at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. Mikala started out in this world fighting for life being born three months premature. Mikala survived against all odds and was home in 75 days. Mikala lived in Washburn, ND, until her 8th grade year. She started gymnastics when she was three years old and was on the show team and also competed in gymnastics until she was 14 years old. A job change for her mother took the family to Bismarck where she went to junior high at Simile Junior High. While attending Simile, Mikala was on the Hughes Adagios Dance team, which she choreographed the routine and they took the routine to state and won first place in their division. Mikala was also in band and was very proud that she was in first chair in the flute section. In 1992 Mikala, her mother, and her brother moved back to Washburn as her mother married Skip Oberg. With this union, Mikala and her brother Nik joined Megan and Jaime and had two sisters in her life. Mikala finished her high school years in Washburn. She also played volleyball at Washburn. In her senior year the band from Washburn was selected to go to Florida to perform; it was a wonderful experience. After high school, Mikala moved back to Bismarck to work and finish her bachelor's degree in business administration. On June 2, 2007, she married the love of her life, Jesse Jordan, and with this union they were blessed with a beautiful baby boy, Sawyer; he has been the joy in their lives. Jesse and Mikala made their home in Bismarck. Mikala was a warm, caring, beautiful person; when she walked in a room her smile lit up the room. She brought joy to many, many people in her 36 years of life and she will be greatly missed. Mikala was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, auntie, sister, and friend. Gratefully for sharing her life is her husband, Jesse; her son, Sawyer; her parents, Skip and Pam Oberg, and Chuck Diehl; her siblings, Megan Rene Morales, children, Arte and Christian, Las Vegas, NV, Jaime Oberg children, Kortnie and Clay, Wilton, and Nik Diehl daughter, Brinley, Pahrump, NV; Mikala's father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Becky Jordan, Rugby; her sisters-in-law, Jennifer Jeff Stewart, children, Bryce and Noah Rugby, and Cassie Jeremy Tofteland, Landa, ND; her grandmother, Marjorie Oberg, Wilton, ND, and Beverly Diehl, Elgin, ND; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred and Hilda Steinle, Gerald Oberg, Bryce and Theresa Jordan, and Ervin Diehl.
