Patrick Gross

Patrick Vincent Gross, 51, Bismarck, died May 8, 2004, at a Bismarck hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Washington Street and Divide Avenue, Bismarck, with the Rev. Jeff Tengesdal officiating. Burial will be Thursday at 10:00 AM at ND Veteran's Cemetery in Mandan. Visitation will be Monday from 5 PM - 9 PM and Tuesday from 9 AM - 9 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service where a prayer service will be held Tuesday at 4:00 PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Pat Gross was born on May 13, 1952, in Bismarck, North Dakota, the son of Vincent and Olivia Kopp Gross. He grew up and attended school in Bismarck. He entered the U.S. Marine Corp while still in high school and finished his schooling in the service. Pat served two tours of duty as a tank commander in Cuba and one tour in the Mediterranean. Following his honorable discharge in 1972, he and friends ventured the Alaskan highway, and stayed briefly before returning to Bismarck. After returning to Bismarck, Pat worked at Central Radiator, Pride Inc., H.I.T. Inc., and most recently was the retail director of Arc of Bismarck. He was dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities and was awarded a Professional Service Award from the Arc of Mandan in 1989. On July 11, 1987, Pat married Vickay Sokolofsky in Bismarck at the home of Jack Bender, his best man. Family was of great importance to Pat and he always enjoyed family get-togethers. He loved spending time with his wife and children and taking them camping, hunting, and traveling. He enjoyed helping his son restore his Mustang and helping his daughter train her horse. He was a good neighbor and was always willing to lend a hand. Pat was also a member of the Mandan Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Vickay of Bismarck; his children, David Patrick Gross age 16 and Olivia Ann Gross age 14, of Bismarck; his brothers and sister-in-law, Tim and Julia Gross of Lincoln and Bill Gross of Bismarck; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Harold Sabot of Madison, Wisconsin, Irene and Ed Bader of Bismarck, Rosemary and Kevin Sailer of Mandan, and Dorothy Martin of Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
