Sylvester Danzl

Sylvester Danzl, 80, died February 15, 2013, at St. Vincent's Care Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon Monday, February 18, at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr. Gene Lindemann officiating. Burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, February 19, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 1:30 – 2:30 Sunday, February 17, at St. Vincent's Care Center, Bismarck, and from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a KC rosary/vigil will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Sylvester was born May 1, 1932, in Cold Springs, MN, the son of Sylvester J. and Mary Simmer Danzl. He was raised and educated in St. Cloud, MN. Sylvester served in the US Navy, stationed in the Philippines and Alaska as a construction electrician third class. He later went to work for AT&T/Western Electric Co., until his retirement in 1983. Sylvester met Marian M. Roether at the phone company where she worked as an operator. Sylvester and Marian were married on November 11, 1961, and made their home in Bismarck. After retirement, he enjoyed fixing things, especially phones, and was always available to give a helping hand to anyone that needed something fixed. Sylvester was a faithful navigator in the fourth degree of the Knights of Columbus, and was a Grand Knight two different times. He was the president of the local Telephone Pioneers of America and also a representative of the CWA Telephone Union. On occasion, Sylvester enjoyed a trip to the casino for a little fun. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons. Sylvester is survived by his wife, Marian, Bismarck; his son, Anthony Mary, Bismarck, and their three sons, Christopher, Fargo, and Andrew and Joshua, Bismarck; his grandson, Damion, Bismarck, the son of his deceased daughter Mary; and his two brothers, Robert, St. Cloud, MN, and Donald Patricia, Rockville, MN. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary; his parents; two brothers, Richard and Raymond; and his sister-in-law, Gertrude.
