Virgil Woeste

Virgil Woeste died July 9, 2005 in St. Alexius Medical Center. He was 79. Services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck, with the Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 9:00 PM Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service where a rosary will be held at 7:00 PM that evening. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Virgil Henry Woeste was born January 5, 1926 to John and Katherine Heinen Woeste in Ogema, MN. He lived there until the age of 4, and then his family moved to Harvey, ND where he attended school. In 1943 his family moved to Glen Ullin where his father purchased the Glen Ullin Creamery which was renamed Woeste Creamery. Virgil bought the creamery from his father in 1961 and operated it until he retired in 2002. He took pride in being the oldest butter maker in ND. Virgil married Jeanne Tschida on June 3, 1946. They adopted and raised 7 children. Virgil was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lions, Elks, and was a city councilman and mayor of Glen Ullin. After retirement Virgil and Jeanne moved to Alexandria, MN. They later moved to Bismarck and have lived here for the last 19 years. Virgil enjoyed spending time at their cabin at Lake Tschida with family and friends. He treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed music and had a great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife Jeanne-Bismarck; daughter Beverly and John Renner- Bismarck; daughter Lynnette Blakeman -Bismarck; daughter Jane and Mark Mosbrucker- Davenport, IA; daughter Sharon and Dean Rohrich- Bismarck; son Robert and Kay Woeste- Bismarck; and daughter Gina and John Kilzer-Port Angeles, WA. Virgil is also survived by 18 grandchildren. His living sisters are Mildred Weinmann- Palatine-IL; Delores and Bob Geitzen - New Leipzig; and Ethelbert and George Svob - Phoenix, AZ; and sister-in-law Laura Woeste - Glen Ullin. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Victor; and sister Sr. Sharon, and children James, Michael and Jane Anne.
