Wesley Jr. B Moore

Wesley Benjamin Moore, Jr., 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle, has been granted well deserved rest and peace. Wesley was called home by our gracious Lord on March 12, 2014, at St. Vincent's Nursing home in Bismarck, N.D. where he received loving care after a long and difficult struggle with Parkinson's disease and dementia. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March, 18, 2014, at 11am at Good Shepard Lutheran Church, 106 Osage Avenue, Bismarck, ND, with Rev. Craig A. Schweitzer officiating. A private family burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, 1825 46th St. Mandan, ND, 58554. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Born August 24, 1926, Wes was raised and educated in Washington, DC. His father Wesley Sr. passed away when Wes was only 14. Wes volunteered for service at age 17 during the second World War in the US Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater as a signalman on amphibious landing craft. Wes was then called up for a second tour of duty in the Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. Following the war, Wes remained devoted to his mother Mabel until her death in 1956. He lost his only sister Doris Collins to polio in 1948. Doris left behind 5 young children, Janet, Edward, Donald, Carmen Marie, and Michael and Wes loved and looked after his nephews and nieces. Wesley met the love of his life Vita in Florida and they were married in 1957. Wes and Vita raised three sons Mark, Steven, and Michael. Wesley began a career in the food service industry as salesman for leading US meat packing company Rath Packing, Inc. As he rose through the ranks at Rath, his assignments took him and his family to many locations throughout the country, beginning in Delaware and including stops in New Mexico, Iowa, and Ohio. In 1966 Wesley left Rath for a position as Plant Manager for E. Huttenbauer & Sons Meat Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. Wes rejoined Rath in 1972 as a regional manager at Rath's national headquarters in Waterloo, Iowa. In 1974 Wes found an opportunity to explore his passion as an independent business owner and together with a local Bismarck business partner acquired a wholesale meat packing company in Mandan, creating M&W Beef Inc. Wes put his heart and soul into the business, transforming the operation from a slaughter business to a wholesale portion control operation and continued overseeing the company's success until his retirement at age 79 in 2006. Wesley is survived by his loving wife, Vita Drewing; 3 sons, Mark Nancy of Portland, OR, Steven Marcy of Mandan, ND, and Michael Teri of Minneapolis, MN; 7 grandchildren, Melissa Portland, Joshua Minneapolis, Zachary New York, Patrick Portland, Anthony Mandan, Tyler Palm Springs, and Stephanie Mandan; niece, Janet Florida; nephew, Michael Maryland, Donald Jr. Florida. Wes was a fun loving man who was dedicated to his family and friends. He had a warm heart and a great sense of humor and would make all he met feel at ease.
