Adam Dosch

After several years of enduring medical challenges, Adam Dosch died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday January 27, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Church of the Ascension in Bismarck with Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 - 9:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a vigil service will be held at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Adam. S. Dosch was born May 15, 1927 to Sebastian and Veronica Dosch in the town of Strasburg, North Dakota. Adam received his elementary education in a one-room rural schoolhouse and graduated from Strasburg High School in 1946. He attended and graduated from Dakota Business College of Fargo in 1949. Later he graduated from the School of Executive Development at the American Savings and Loan Institute at the University of Washington. Adam's first job was as an accountant for Corwin Churchill Motors in Bismarck, where he was employee for eleven years except for the period of December, 1950 to August, 1952, when he served in the armed forces. He was stationed at Camp Rucker, Alabama, and Miami, Florida. On June 10, 1952, while on leave, he married Marianna Mattern at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Strasburg, North Dakota. In August, 1952 he was given an Honorable Discharge from the 164th Infantry Regiment. Adam and his wife returned to Bismarck and made their home at 1618 Rosser Avenue, where they became members of St. Mary's parish. While at St. Mary's Adam was instrumental in bringing about the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine CCD Program and was an instructor from 1967 to 1969. He also headed the formation of the first Board of Education for St. Mary's Grade School where he was a charter member beginning in 1968. In addition he served for six years on the Board of Directors at Missouri Slope Care Center. Adam joined the Knights of Columbus Council #1604 in October of 1959, eventually serving on the Initiation degree team, and has been awarded the Knight of the Month awarded three times and also served in the capacity as Grand Knight of that Council. He also served on the Adult Advisory Committee of St. Anne's Boy Scout Troop #120 and served on the Executive Committee of St. Mary's Central High School Carnival from 1970 until 2004. In 1976 Adam was elected to the Bishop's Pastoral Council of the Dioceses of Bismarck. Adam was employed by First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Bismarck where he was the Vice President and Treasure, and also President of Riverside Service Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of First Federal until 1992, when he retired. Adam is survived by his wife, Marianna of Bismarck; five children, Vern Dosch Lynne of Bismarck, Wanda Loughry Tom of Albuquerque, NM, Mark Dosch Debra of Bismarck, Mary Frank Tim of Mandeville, LA, and Julie Hostetter Harold of Loveland, CO; his sisters, Helen Braunagel, Rose Bosch, and Sally Hamilton; his brothers, Edward Dosch Philomena, Jack Dosch Lucy, John Dosch Cecilia, and Tony Dosch LaRae; and sixteen grandchildren, Billie, Amber and Abbey Ebbert, Zachary, Brittany and Jordan Dosch, Isaac, Joseph and Alexis Dosch, Matthew, Nathanial, Joshua and Elizabeth Frank, Logan, Benjamin and Kolter Hostetter. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sebastian and Veronica Dosch, and one grandson, Nicholas Frank. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Bismarck Area Catholic Education Foundation BACEF.
