Adrian Steven Feser

Adrian Feser, 77, Bismarck, passed away on September 23, 2014, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, with family by his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 pm Thursday, September 25, at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr. Gene Lindemann officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation has taken place. Adrian Steven Feser was born along with identical twin brother, Rick, on September 29, 1936, to Max and Elizabeth Feser in Glen Ullin, ND. He grew up and worked on the family farm near Glen Ullin and graduated from Glen Ullin High School in 1954. In 1957 he attended Bismarck Junior College and began working for the North Dakota Department of Transportation where he worked for 50 years. During his time with DOT he was honored with twice as employee of the year. He worked in various field engineer assignments throughout the state and was District Project Manager at the time of his retirement. Adrian was a member of the ND Chapter of American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians serving as Vice President and National Director. He also served on the advisory board at the Wahpeton State School of Science. Adrian was an outdoor enthusiast and loved to hunt and fish. Fly fishing became a passion for him later in life and he has recorded over 30 whopper fish in North Dakota. Adrian's greatest passion though was his wife Phyllis whom he met and married in Glen Ullin, ND, in 1957. Together they had three children, Kaye, Jim, and Phil. They lived all of their lives in North Dakota spending time in Devils Lake, Mandan, and Bismarck. In 1982 Phyllis suffered a serious illness that left her with many special needs. Adrian, with his unending devotion and commitment to her, never left her side for 31 years and never asked or expected someone else to care for her. He was true to his vows "in sickness and in health, for better or worse" from the day that he married her. Adrian is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his daughter, Kaye Ray Obregon, Bismarck; his sons, Jim Shelly and Phil, both of Bismarck; seven grandchildren, Cecilia Tarek Chase, Zachary Brittany, Genevra, Olliver, MaGregr, Brandon, Danielle Stuart Danielson; four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Amaila, Baker, and Tolan; four brothers, Rick Alice, Clarence Pat, Richard Gladys, and Arden Donna; and special friends, Vince and Diane Swenson and Betty Groszhans. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Elizabeth; his sister, Marilyn; and special friend, Martin Groszhans. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
