Albert "Al" Dauenhauer

Albert “Al” Dauenhauer, 77, of Bismarck, passed to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at St. Alexius Medical Center surrounded by family, due to complications caused by an aortic aneurism. Services will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM at Church of Corpus Christi in Bismarck with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Military graveside services will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at 3:00 PM with military honors provided by VFW Post #1326. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 3:00 – 9:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00 – 9:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary followed by a prayer service will be held on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Al was born on August 28, 1931, to Christ and Anna Hertz Dauenhauer. He attended school in Mott and Glen Ullin. Al entered the Marine Corp in 1951 until the untimely death of his father, after which he returned home to help his mother and younger siblings run the family farm. He married the love of his life, Elaine Goetz of Bismarck, on September 30, 1957. Al managed the Lazy S Ranch for many years and later worked for Northern Improvement Co. as well as operating his own cattle ranch. He was a charter member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and an honorary member of both the Eagle’s Club and the Knights of Columbus. In his retirement years, Al enjoyed giving horse-drawn hayrides and working with Dean Gerving and the guys from Bismarck-Mandan Fertilizer. Al was truly a man of integrity and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Al is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Elaine, Bismarck; five daughters: Lori Bob Simons, Dickinson, Jean Mike Smith, Williston, Shari Pat Salter, Bismarck, Debra Todd Beard, Williston, and Jodi Darren Sletten, Ryder; three sons: Alden, Baldwin, Gary Steph, Fargo, and Dale Lisa, Hazen; 21 grandchildren; 25 ½ great-grandchildren; three brothers: Clarence, Bob Helen, both of Bismarck, and Pat Sheila, South Carolina; and three sisters: Venita Doll, Mandan, Rosemary Dauenhauer, California, and Sally Gary Carignan, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Christ and Anna Dauenhauer.
