Alice Johnson

Alice Johnson, 62, was called home to the Lord on January 27, 2006 after a lengthy battle with numerous health complications. Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Laurie Natwick officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 2-9 PM Sunday and 9 AM-9 PM Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Alice Beverly Carlson was born on November 3, 1943, in Bismarck, ND. She grew up in south central North Dakota, graduating from Bismarck High School in 1961. On July 13, 1963, she married the love of her life, Archie. Alice was well known for many years as an active member and part-time secretary at Good Shepherd Lutheran church. She taught church school, participated in church ladies' circle groups, and was looked up to by many members and staff. She the spent the rest of her career as the secretary to the bishops of the Western synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, continuing her service to the church and being loved by all of the clergy and church staffers whose lives she touched. Alice was an avid reader, an accomplished seamstress, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting a great deal. Many children of family and friends have bedspreads and blankets to this day that were hand made with love by her. She enjoyed camping and vacationing with her children, babysitting her many nieces and nephews, and spending time with friends and family. She never lost her faith or her ability to keep her chin up, regardless what hand was dealt to her. Throughout her many years of health problems and pain, she always pushed forward, never giving up. Alice always continued to put up a fight and put on a smile, regardless of her situation or prognosis. Her faith and her sense of humor seemed to outweigh anything bad that ever came along. Alice will be missed dearly by many as she begins her new eternal life in Heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of over 42 years, Archie; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Scott Narum, Cheyenne, WY; one son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Sandy Johnson, Bismarck, ND; and three granddaughters, Nicole Narum, Cheyenne, WY, Leanna Duppong, and Erica Johnson, both of Bismarck, ND.
