Aloys Feist

Aloys "Al" Feist, 66, Hebron, ND, died at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND, on December 1, 2011, after a year-long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, at 1:30 PM CST at Hebron Public School Gym. Burial will be at St. Ann's Cemetery in Hebron, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 - 9:00 PM CST at St. Ann's Church in Hebron where a KC Rosary/vigil service will begin at 7:00 PM CST. Visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the school gym. Aloys Kasper, son of Nicklaus K. and Magdalena Schwahn Feist, was born on July 19, 1945, in Linton, ND. He grew up in Strasburg, ND, and graduated from Valley City Teachers College in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in education. He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Nagel, on August 20, 1966. They moved to Hebron in 1967 when he began teaching at Hebron Public School where he taught English and German, coached many sports and speech, and served as athletic director. Al taught there for 43 years until he retired in May 2010. Al was very active in Hebron and served in many positions in St. Ann's Church, pastoral diocesan council, Hebron Education Association, lifetime member of ND Education Association, ND Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, Lions, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, President of the International Germans from Russia Heritage Society and the local chapter, Booster Club, Music Boosters, Jaycees, Park Board, Community Hospital Board, charter member of the Hebron Dollars for Scholars, and recently received the Dollars for Scholars Chapter Hero Award. Al enjoyed the outdoors and helping out on the farm. He always was there to help others and spent hours mowing lawns and helping out friends and neighbors. He spent countless hours teaching his children and grandchildren how to fix things and to do it correctly. He enjoyed camping with his siblings and their families and never missed a family event. His joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren whether it was attending sporting activities, school events, or just holding one of his grandchildren on his lap. Al is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and their five children, Nicolette Mike Gietzen, Bismarck, Claudia Jason Wehri, Hebron, Lisa Kent Wanner, Fargo, Jonathan Kristine Feist, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Melanie Mike Jacobson, Center; and nineteen grandchildren, Lauren, Morgan, and Dylan Gietzen, Allyssa, Logan, Braden, Collin, and Addison Wehri, Alexis, Daniel, Anthony, Erika, Mark, and Miriam Wanner, Andrew and Allie Feist, Mykaela, Tristan, and Hunter Jacobson. He is also survived by three sisters, Rosalie Francis Fergel, Mary Ann Paul Larry Wolf, and Marcella Don Lammert; one sister-in-law, Karen Hal Weninger; two brothers, Patrick Sandy Feist, and Irvin Sue Feist; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, infant Jerome and Jerome; and one grandson, Paul Wanner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be given to a scholarship fund that will be set up for students of Hebron.
