Aloysius R. Wagner

Aloysius R. Wagner, 84, Bismarck, died December 1, 2012, at Kindred Health Care. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Church of Corpus Christi in Bismarck with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial will be at the ND Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 – 8:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service where a KC Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Al was born on June 21, 1928, on a farm east of Strasburg, ND, the son of Romanus and Katie Dosch Wagner. He was raised and attended school in Strasburg. He enlisted in the US Air Force on September 15, 1950, in Fargo, ND. Al married Irene Senger on September 25, 1951, near Hague, ND. After an honorable discharge from the service, they made their home in Snyder, TX, where Al worked on the oil rigs. They then moved to Bismarck where they lived throughout his life. After various jobs, he went to work for the US Postal Service in 1956 until he retired in September of 1989. He held many part-time jobs during the years he spent working at the post office. Al earned several service awards at the US Postal Service including twice honored for a superior act or service, safety suggestion awards, special achievement, and service awards. He held state offices of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Delegate at Large for the NALC, and participated in first National Agreement negotiations between unions and USPS. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and camping. Most of all, his enjoyment was spending time with his family and grandchildren. Al is survived by his wife, Irene of Bismarck; his daughter, Kathy Don Thompson and their son, Jeremy all of West Fargo; his son, Jim Kathy of Bismarck and their children, Kris Klein of Bismarck and Brad Wagner of Champlin, MN; his son, Dennis Karen and their children, Laura, Brett, and Ryan all of Overland Park, KS; his son, Jerry Deb of McPherson, KS, and their children, Robert of McPherson, KS, and Dani of Salina, KS; his son, Keith Kathy and their children, Drew, Alexis, and Amanda all of Augusta, GA; his daughter-in-law, Bonnie Kenneth's wife, Naomi and Brandon, all of Bismarck; six great-grandchildren; his brother, Mike Wagner of Bismarck; and his sisters, Angeline Schmaltz of Anaheim, CA, and Shirley Boschee of Scottsdale, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Wayne and Kenneth; his sister, Rose; and his brothers, LeRoy and Daniel. The family wishes to thank the Kindred staff and Dr. Addy for the special care given to Al.
