Alyce Marie Moch

On June 24, 2008, God decided to call Mom home so she could be with Dad. This was their 59th wedding anniversary year and the 20th year since they had been apart. Mom courageously endured five surgeries since late December. The doctors and nurses in ICU often referred to Mom as their miracle lady, always fighting to beat the odds. Alyce Marie Moch, 77, Bismarck, died on June 24, 2008, at St. Alexius Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 27, at St. Katherine’s Catholic Church in Braddock with Rev. Gary Benz and Rev. Bruce Krebs officiating. Burial will be held at Braddock Community Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Eastgate Funeral Service in Bismarck where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday evening. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church where a rosary will be said at 10:30 am.Alyce Marie was born on April 23, 1931, in Steele, ND, to Warner and Freda Moehrle Sempel. She grew up in Braddock and graduated from Braddock High School. She then took some courses at Valley City Teacher’s College. On June 7, 1949, Alyce Marie married Pius Moch in Braddock. They lived on a farm north of Braddock where she taught at a country school. While raising her children and living on farms in Braddock and Hazelton, she was involved in church organizations, teaching CCD, Parent-Teachers Associations, Band Mothers, and National Farmers Organization. Alyce Marie enjoyed being a farmer’s wife and was a fantastic cook and baker. Her children always got off the school bus and enjoyed the goodies waiting for them. She believed in serving her meals “hot”, that was the best way to eat them! Alyce Marie loved taking care of her farm animals, especially her cats, including her special cat, Sam. In 2006, Alyce Marie moved to Bismarck where she enjoyed her apartment and friends. She was actively involved in Braddock Alumni and Cemetery Association, Braddock and Hazelton Centennial book committees, and Braddock Senior Citizens. Alyce Marie was a representative for North Dakota Silver-Haired Assembly. She fit in beautifully with her hair that always made her stand out. She enjoyed fishing with her husband, friends, neighbors the Wagners, her sons, Greg and David, and her sons-in-law, Gary and Richard. She also loved to travel. Alyce Marie always had a special love for her community of Braddock. The day before she died, she had spoken fondly of her home town to Father Benz. She is survived by her sons, Greg of Mandan and David of Hazelton; her daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Richard Elkins of New Rockford and Corinne and Gary Renz of Cambridge, MN; her grandchildren, Michael Renz and Nicci Chris Elkins DeMarce; her great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Chloe DeMarce; her brother-in-law, George Moch of Bismarck, her sisters-in-law, Barbara Klein of Bismarck and Martha Moch of Turtle Lake; many nieces and nephews; her caregiver, Bernie Wagner; and all her special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pius; her parents and her cousins, Roger, George and Larry Sempel. “The Alyce Marie Moch family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the doctors and nurses in the St. Alexius ICU for the care given their mother.” Memorials may be given to the Braddock Community Cemetery.
