Anna TeBeest

Anna TeBeest, 88, Bismarck died April 27, 2008 at a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Bismarck Community Church, 1617 Michigan Avenue, Bismarck with Rev. Ron Klein officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck and continue one hour prior to services at the church. Anna was born May 5, 1919, in rural Emmons County, the daughter of John and Delia Van Heukelom Nieuwsma. She was raised on a farm near Hull, ND. Anna married John B. TeBeest on June 4, 1948 in Hull, and they farmed near Westfield, ND. John and Anna lived in Baldwin, WI, Ellendale, ND and moved to Bismarck in 1962. Throughout the years of her life, Anna was a dedicated wife and mother. She cheerfully worked hard at raising seven children, at milking cows and farming or at scrubbing walls and doing bookwork for the Dyna-Kleen business. Anna generously helped family, friends or strangers, and loved to organize "birthday suppers" and events at church or cook for large gatherings. Anna lived her Christian faith daily in many quiet ways, but became excited when she completed training in Evangelism Explosion and the Bethel Bible Series and could share her faith. Anna enjoyed making quilts, writing Christian hymns and had songs, poems and stories published. Anna courageously recovered from partial paralysis from a stroke, mourned the loss of her husband, John, and then lived with breast cancer for three years until her death. To all she leaves the memories of a devoted woman, whose unconditional love, forgiveness, encouragement and prayers will never be forgotten. She is survived by her sons, John G. Marie, Mandan, ND, Donald Maylene, Fortuna, CA, Elton and Peter both of Bismarck, ND, and Gary Lori, Grants Pass, OR; her daughters, Beth William Calamas, Grand Rapids, MI, and Juanita Alvin Braun, Bismarck, ND; her grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her brothers, Gerrit Francis Nieuwsma and John Irene Nieuwsma, all of Hull, ND and her sisters-in-law, Gertrude Nieuwsma, Bismarck, ND and Elizabeth Dornbush, Linton, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; her four brothers, Peter J., Menne, Edwin and Franklin Nieuwsma and her sister, Bendina Meyer.
