Anne Pearl Meyer

With her family at her side, Anne Pearl Meyer was called home to be with our heavenly Father at 1:45 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 24, at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Wes Aardahl officiating. Burial will be at Baldwin Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service in Bismarck and will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Anne was the second child and only daughter born to Michael and Mary Karalenko Garowski at their home in Wilton, ND, on September 26, 1927. After graduating from Wilton High School, Anne went on to attend Bismarck School of Nursing with the goal of becoming an LPN. In the fall of 1948, while attending a dance, she met her husband, Jacob Jack Meyer. They were married on June 17, 1949, at First Lutheran Church in Bismarck. On March 29, 1959, she gave birth to their only child, a son, Micheal Jacob Meyer. Jack and Anne were married 61 years at the time of his death. Jack and Anne lived their life on the family farm at Baldwin. Anne was happy to be a farm wife and mother. Because her parents emigrated from the Ukraine, she could speak the Ukrainian language fluently. At one point she helped a young Ukrainian family as they settled into Bismarck by translating for them. Anne had a special affection for Pomeranian dogs, over the years owning four of them. She and Jack retired from farming and moved into Bismarck in 2000. In the years to follow, they would both become residents at the Baptist Home where they made many new friends and enjoyed the attention they received from the staff. Anne kept close tabs on family calling often, always concerned about everyone's welfare. Over the years Jack and Anne were members of Sunne Lutheran, First Lutheran, and Faith Lutheran Churches. Jack and Anne were members of the Eagles and the Elks where they enjoyed eating out and dancing. Their favorite Sunday afternoon activity was to listen to the radio and enjoy the good old polkas and waltzes. During her lifetime Anne dealt with migraines, glaucoma, cataracts, and in April 1997 during a raging blizzard a brain aneurysm that left her wheelchair-bound. Just prior to passing, Anne shared with family that there was a man in a white tuxedo waiting for her. She is now free of her earthly trials and tribulations and once again able to dance with Jack. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Meyer, Bismarck; her grandchildren, James and Jennifer Meyer, Wilton, and Paul and Tonya Meyer, Bismarck; her great-grandchildren, Jonathon and Hannah, Bismarck; her brothers-in-law, Bill Meyer, Baldwin, and Albert Lucinda Meyer, Bismarck; and nieces and nephews. Anne was preceded in death by her son, Mike on February 27, 2002; her husband, Jack on February 27, 2010; her parents; and only brother, Peter Garowski.
