Arthur Moldenhauer

Arthur Emanuel Moldenhauer, 92, originally from Goodrich, North Dakota, was called home by our Lord on October 24, 2006 at 7 a.m. Funeral services for Mr. Moldenhauer will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2006, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Bismarck, with graveside services being held in Goodrich Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at Eastgate Funeral Home in Bismarck on October 27th from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Art was born on August 18, 1914, on his family's farm in Goodrich and was the son of Ferdinand and Matilda Knecht Moldenhauer. He attended and graduated from Goodrich High School in 1934. Following graduation, Art worked on the family farm and operated a well drilling business with his brothers, Ed and John Moldenhauer. Soon Art met the love of his life, Pearl Brennise, and the two were married on August 3, 1940. After they married, Art and Pearl lived in Goodrich for 50 years, where together they managed a successful family farm and Pearl taught for the Goodrich school system. Together Art and Pearl raised two children, Kelvin Arthur Moldenhauer, Bismarck, and Sondra Colleen Moldenhauer Groetken, LeMars, Iowa. While in Goodrich, Art was an active member of the United Methodist Church where he served as a Lay Leader, Sunday school teacher, and Bible school teacher. Art also served as the President of the Goodrich Parent Teachers Association and the Goodrich Lion's Club. He also regularly sang in two local men's quartets and the Goodrich Community Choir. Following their retirement from the family farm, Art and Pearl moved to Bismarck where Art helped his son with his home building business, K&L Homes. Beyond his civic involvement, Art was an extremely dedicated family man. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. Art was well known to be active in his family member's lives and took great pride in their growth and accomplishments. All family members agree that Art was a significant source of insight and support throughout their lives. Art is survived by his wife, Pearl; their daughter, Sondra Groetken and her husband Alan; their son, Kelvin Moldenhauer and his wife, Launa; their grandchildren, Troy Groetken and his wife Sheryl, Trent Groetken and his wife Nicole, Jody Moldenhauer and her fiance Robb Eckert, Chad Moldenhauer and his fiancee Stacy Dschaak, and La'Cee Groetken; their great-grandchildren, Katelyn Groetken, Madelyn Groetken, and Olivia Groetken; and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Moldenhauer.
