Betty A. Kleingartner

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Kleingartner, 82, Bismarck, died June 27, 2012, at Medcenter One Hospital, Bismarck. Although a breast cancer survivor, she succumbed to the side effects of chemotherapy. Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Steve Sathre officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, June 29, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Betty was born in Turtle Lake, ND, on October 19, 1929, the oldest of 12 children born to Elmer and Alma Ellingson Carr. She attended country schools and graduated from Turtle Lake High School. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church rural Turtle Lake. She married her high school sweetheart, Meinhardt Kleingartner, on October 31, 1946. They lived on a farm near Brush Lake, Mercer, ND, for 12 years. To this union three children were born, Ronald, Leon, and Remar. Spring of 1958 they moved to Bismarck and Betty began working at Dakota National Bank which is now Wells Fargo Bank. She was employed there for 32 years until she retired. Betty was an active member of Bismarck-Mandan Quota Club for 20 years, also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on the funeral committee for more than 20 years. She so enjoyed all her co-workers on the funeral committee and called them dear friends. Betty's ready smile, kind heart, and selfless contribution to others will truly be missed. Her determined spirit and zest for life remain an inspiration to all. Betty is survived by her husband, Meiny, of 65 years; two sons, Ronald Carol, Terre Haute, IN, and Leon Marilyn, Rochford, SD; daughter, Remar Mark Thorsness, Castle Rock, CO. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Korry Kleingartner, Colorado Springs, CO, Sean Melissa Kleingartner, Springfield, IL, Darcy Jason Vest, Valmeyer, IL, Kirby Kleingartner, Minot, ND, Tera Bartholomay, Bismarck; Lindsey Rhett Trees, Denver, CO, Nicholas Shelley Cimarossa, Hammond, OR; ten great-grandchildren, Evan, Ryan, Jordan , Kendall, Peyton, Andrew, Boston, Camrie, Irelynd, and Mckenna. She is also survived by one brother, Quentin "Ken" Jennifer Carr, Seward, AK; seven sisters, Marian Meyer, Bismarck, JoAnn Nelson, Minneapolis, MN, Zona Lyle Sannes, Brainerd, MN, Audrey Jim Gilbertson, Marco Island, FL, Beverly Bob Hale, Englewood Isles, FL, Carol Michael Olson, Perham, MN, Claudette Clark Ness, Washburn, ND; sisters-in-law, Elaine Carr, Washburn, Donna Kleingartner, Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Claudia and Margaret Jane; one brother, Clayton E. Carr; foster brother, LeRoy Hanson; and brothers-in-law, M. Neal Meyer, Gerald Nelson and Paul Bergquist.
