Betty J Lovgren

Betty J. Lovgren, 86, Bismarck, died August 22, 2011, at Medcenter One Hospital, Bismarck. Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 27, at St. George?s Episcopal Church, 601 North 4th Street, Bismarck, with Rev. Michael Horn officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday, August 26, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Betty Jean was born September 22, 1924, in Tower City, ND, the daughter of Floyd and Alice Grey Reynolds. Her family moved to Bismarck in 1937 where she graduated from Bismarck High School in 1942. Betty married John Lovgren on September 14, 1945, in Bismarck. She worked at Fraine Barracks, Meyer Broadcasting, Robert James Real Estate, and for the Atkinson Company with Myron Atkinson. Betty loved bowling and was inducted into the Bismarck-Mandan Bowlers Hall of Fame. She also served as secretary for the Bismarck-Mandan Bowling Association. Betty was very active in the Elkettes also serving as secretary. She was active in the Quota Club, a women?s international service organization. Betty retired from the Atkinson Company in 1987 and continued in her position as the apartment manager at Arrowhead Apartments, a position she thoroughly enjoyed. Her pride and joy was being a mom and grandma, caring for her family. Betty, always a lady; carried herself with class and dignity all the way to her last days in the hospital. Her sense of humor and strength of character intact; she teased, scolded and questioned her family to the end. She will be missed, but her legacy, stories, and our memories will last forever. Betty is survived by her children, David Joyce Lovgren, Battle Lake, MN, Lynn Russ Rings, Bismarck, ND, Bob Cydnie Conley Lovgren, Faribault, MN, and William Elizabeth Miller Lovgren, Bismarck, ND; her grandchildren, Paula Lovgren, Michael Jaylenn Wolfer, Sarah Wolfer, Scott Rings, Jonathan Rings, Jason Rings, Becky Lovgren and Bradley Lovgren; her great-grandchildren, T.J., Hailey, Reis, Brennan and Dalton; her sister, Florence George McClary; and two special nephews, Larry Tonander and Scott McClary. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1992; her sisters, Dorothy and Evelyn and her brother, Bud.
