Brett Ryan Dvirnak

Brett Ryan Dvirnak, Bismarck, passed away June 20, 2012, at his home in Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, June 26, at Bismarck Baptist Church, 2211 LaForest Ave, Bismarck. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm Monday, June 25, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Brett was born in Hettinger, ND, with his arrival lovingly anticipated by his parents, Bryan and Cindy Heber Dvirnak, on October 29, 1983. Their home was in Bowman, ND. When Brett was 19 months old, this little family of three moved to Sheridan, WY, where his sister, Anya, was born February 13, 1986. From Sheridan, WY, the family moved to Bismarck, ND, where Brett was in Munchkins and Zion Lutheran Preschool programs. He attended kindergarten through the beginning of 2nd grade at Solheim Elementary in Bismarck. In November 1991, Brett's family moved to Willmar, MN, where Brett attended Community Christian School for the remainder of 2nd grade through 4th grade. The family moved back to Bismarck in July 1994, when Brett entered Centennial Elementary School in the fall and attended there for 5th and 6th grade. He played the saxophone for two years, and before 7th grade switched to playing drums, which began a life-long love for playing percussion instruments. He played hockey during elementary and junior high school. He attended Hughes Jr. High and Century High School in the class of 2002, in Bismarck, ND. After high school graduation, Brett worked in Bismarck at Papa John's Pizza both in-store and as a delivery driver. He attended Bismarck State College, concentrating in musical studies. He was a very gifted musician and he received the Instrumental Music Student of the Year in May 2008. He graduated from BSC on August 7, 2009, with an Associate of Arts Degree. In September 2011, Brett moved to Portland, OR, and was enrolled at Portland State University. He enjoyed living in Portland and being able to experience all the area had to offer. When Brett was living in Willmar, MN, he asked Jesus into his heart at 10 years old. Brett was active in his church, Bismarck Baptist, as a little boy. He attended Sunday School and Awana, receiving his Timothy Award for Bible memory in 6th grade. Throughout his life he knew that God loved him and was protecting him. When he passed away, Anya said, "maybe God just wanted him Home," and we cling to that knowledge, knowing he was saved and will spend eternity with a loving Heavenly Father. He loved snowboarding, skateboarding, playing video games, and history, particularly U.S. History and WWII. He was in absolute awe of the wonders of nature and so much appreciated its beauty. Brett had a tender heart, an amazing smile, and an infectious laugh. He was a great friend to all those he knew and all who knew him loved him greatly. He will be forever missed by his devoted parents, Bryan and Cindy, and his very special 'lil sis, Anya. Also to mourn his passing are his loving grandparents, Luella Heber, Bismarck, and Grayce and Alick Dvirnak, Fruita, CO. Special aunts and uncles who loved Brett are, Denise and Ron Starck, Bismarck, Jeff and Mischelle Heber, Minot, Diane Dvirnak, Grand Junction, CO, Cindy and David Schultz, Savannah, GA, Craig and Rhonda Dvirnak, Killdeer, ND, David and Kristin Dvirnak, Vallejo, CA, and Dwight and Gaye Dvirnak, Watford City, ND. Also Brett leaves special cousins, Cassandra and Caleb Rodgers, Minot, Carissa Heber, Minot, Nathan Carson, Denver, CO, Noelle, Chris and baby Hannah Thurlow, Minot, Andrew and Pam Dvirnak, Ramstein, Germany, Amber and Josh Keller, Bismarck, Austin Dvirnak and fiancé, Natalie Gunderson, Dickinson; and many extended family members. Brett leaves behind many special friends who loved him dearly. Brett was preceded in death by his grandfather, Paul Heber, who we know greeted him in Heaven.
