Carol Neukircher

Carol B. Crawford Neukircher, 66, Mandan, died August 9, 2010, at her home. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, August 12, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Steve Sathre officiating. Burial will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Carol was born December 9, 1943, on the family farm in Emmons County, ND, the fifth child born to William and Bertha Droog Nieuwsma. She attended and graduated from Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. She married Robert “Bob” Crawford on August 17, 1963. He died on November 6, 1986. She married Herb Neukircher on April 16, 1988. Carol worked as a nurse for 34 years in the arenas of emergency and surgery departments, public health, home health and bereavement services. She attended and graduated with honors from Medcenter One College of Nursing in 1995. She conducted her professional career with excellence and was instrumental in establishing programs for improving the physical and emotional health of many people. Carol loved spending time with her family, taking pontoon rides on the river with family and friends, and enjoyed flowers, cross stitch and scrapbooking. She and Herb enjoyed many years together, wintering in Arizona and traveling throughout the United States and abroad. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, the American Nurses Association, and the ND Nurses Association. Carol was a loving, caring person, who through her efforts made her blended family, one family. She will be loved and missed by her family and friends. Carol is survived by her husband, Herb, Mandan; two sons, Brian Crawford, and Tim Crawford, of Bismarck; stepchildren, Curtis and Denise Neukircher, and Gary and Bouavanh Neukircher, all of Minneapolis, MN, and Lisa and Dan Leingang, Mandan, ND; her grandchildren, Tristan and Thomas Crawford, Connor and Charis Leingang, and Hannah, Haley, and Jack Neukircher; her father, William, Strasburg; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Franklin and Gracey, and Willard, all of Pollock, SD, and Lorraine, Sioux Center, IA; her sisters and three brothers-in-law, Gladys and Lowell Seymour, Pollock, SD, Helen Huizenga, Edmonds, WA, Lavonne and Jim Rossow, Buffalo, WY, and Vivian and Curt Vander Vorst, Hague, ND. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bob; her mother, Bertha in 2006; and her brother, Edwin.
