Clara Krein

Clara Krein, 83, Bismarck, was called to her heavenly home on February 3, 2006, at St. Vincent's Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. Nathan Keith officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Bismarck. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at St. Vincent's Care Center and from 4:00 - 9:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service in Bismarck. Visitation will continue Tuesday one hour prior the service at the church. Clara Leno Krein was born on October 29, 1922, in Tuttle, North Dakota, the daughter of Jacob and Caroline Rivinius Leno. She was raised and educated in Tuttle. In 1941, she was united in marriage to Theodore Krein. They farmed in the Goodrich and Wing areas until Theodore's death. In 1966, she and her family moved to Bismarck. Clara was proud to have completed and received her GED in 1968. She then operated the Husky House CafÚ, where she served up the finest home cooking around for the truckers, travelers, and the local community. Clara's hard work and dedication was recognized by awarding her two very enjoyable and relaxing trips; one to Guatemala and one to Mexico. Some family members accompanied her, making her trips even more memorable. She retired from the Husky House CafÚ in 1981. Upon her full retirement in 1994, she occupied her days with her artistic talent and love of sewing, designing patchwork quilts, blankets, needlepoint, doll clothes, and other fine articles for all of her children and grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, her flowers, observing her backyard wildlife, going to Bingo with her friends, occasional trips to the casino with family or friends, and scurrying around to various rummage sales seeking out antiques and other items of interest. Clara tried never to miss a Minnesota Vikings or Minnesota Twins televised sporting event. She also was able to attend some of these events in person. She could name all of the players and coaches involved in either of these teams. Clara dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Holidays were a special event with homemade cookies, kuchen, and her special buns. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bismarck. Clara is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Harley and Gloria Krein of Dickinson, Gene and Vi Krein of Overland Park, Kansas, Rod Krein of Bismarck, and Dennis "Mike" and Rosie Krein of Bismarck; her daughters and son-in-law, Carol and Doug Hammeren of Billings, Montana, and Rhonda Krein and her fiancÚ, Bob Fool Bear, of Cannon Ball; nine grandchildren, Cameron Gina, Michael, Melissa Michael, Natalie, Marc, Kimberly Adam, Matthew fiancÚe, Maggie, Lacy, and Cole Diana; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Lindsey, Jacob, Mckenzie, and Daisy; two sisters, Tillie Quencer and Freida Jochim; and five brothers, Jacob, Edwin, Harold, Willie, and Art. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; her parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
