Dorothy E. Foster, 88, Bismarck, died April 16, 2013, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, April 20, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr. Thomas Richter officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm Friday, April 19, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a vigil service will begin at 5:30 pm. Dorothy Evelyn Geach was born to John Geach and Florence Baron Geach on December 17, 1924, in Hurley, Wisconsin. Dorothy lost her mother at an early age, so she was raised by her father and her older sister, Loretta. Dorothy graduated from Hurley High School, and then got her nursing degree from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Ashland, Wisconsin. While in nursing training, she was an Army Cadette Nurse. Dorothy worked as a charge nurse at Milwaukee County Hospital for several years. Later on, she was part of the nursing staff at Doctor's Hospital in Seattle, Washington, where she worked until she had her first child. Years later, when her children were grown, Dorothy was a nurse at Heartview Foundation in Mandan. Dorothy married Dr. Keith Gerald Foster in 1947. To this union were born five children: Michael, Robert, Daniel, Susan and Jane. Dorothy enjoyed bridge, slot machines, travel, fishing, and walking. She competed in many Pace Walks at Heartview with her good friend, Jen. She loved to socialize with friends and family, and her favorite drink was a Tanqueray martini. Dorothy and Keith loved to travel, especially to Marco Island, Florida. Shelling, walking the beach, and watching the sunsets were her favorite activities there. Dorothy's main loves in life were her husband Keith, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her many friends. She was a member of the Holy Sepulcher, Catholic Daughters, and Bridge Club. She is survived by four children, 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Keith, daughter Jane, granddaughter Meghan, sister Loretta, and brothers Ed and John. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of her granddaughter, Meghan Joule.
