Edith J. Schweitzer

Edith Schweitzer, 91, of Bismarck, earned her angel wings on June 11, 2014, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary with the Rev. Msgr. Gene Lindemann officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will take place from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 East Divide Avenue, Bismarck. A prayer vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. A loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and faithful Catholic, she was a woman who loved her family and church deeply. She was always able to find the good in people. Her beautiful smile, sparkling, mischievous eyes and unending kindness to all will be sorely missed. She loved chocolate, Rock and Rye, breakfast and anything blue. A talented crocheter, who enjoyed reading, crossword and word search puzzles. Edith was most happy when spending time with her family. Edith was born in Bismarck on January 27, 1923, to Pius Roehrich and Anna Mosset Roehrich. She attended St. Mary's Grade School and St. Mary's High School graduating in 1940. She married A.W. "Tony" Schweitzer on January 27, 1943, at Church of St. Mary in Bismarck. Tony and Edith were blessed with three children – Patrick, David and Mary. Shortly after high school graduation, Edith was employed at Provident Life Insurance Company before beginning her long career with the North Dakota State Motor Vehicle Department. She retired after 37 years of service to the state. Survived by son, Patrick Barbara, Bismarck, ND; daughter, Mary, Minnetonka, MN; brother, Floyd Beatrice Roehrich, Mandan, ND; brother-in-law, Adam Storick, Mandan, ND; grandsons, Craig Wendy, Bismarck, ND, Steven Dana, Bismarck, ND, Ryan, Bismarck, ND, and Michael, Sidney, MT; and great-granddaughters Ilia, Taegan, and Tehya. Edith is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony; son, David; sisters, Virginia Roehrich, Bernice Storick, and Florence Adams; brother-in-law, William Adams; niece, Mary Lou Bahm; and great-granddaughter, Lakin Schweitzer.
