Eleanor Roswick

Eleanor Roswick, 95, Bismarck, died November 27, 2013, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 pm Thursday, December 5, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with Rev. Jared Johnson officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm – 7:30 pm Wednesday, December 4, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a vigil service will begin at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Margaret Eleanor was born August 22, 1918, the daughter of Edward and Clara Baures Payseno in Denhoff, ND. She grew up in Denhoff, and then moved to Moorhead, MN, with her family where she attended Moorhead High School and Moorhead State College. She married Elmer Roswick in Meridian, MS, on July 30, 1942. During WWII she was a USO director and taught school at Kitsap County High School in Washington State. In 1945, after her husband returned from the service, they made their home in Bismarck. Eleanor was active in many programs that involved children, which included scout leader, CCD teacher, substitute teacher, PTA, Band Mothers, and St. Mary's High School Carnival. She was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, and belonged to Monday and Wednesday Clubs, Catholic Daughters of America, Cathedrals' St. Monica Mission Group, long-time volunteer at St. Alexius Hospital and 50 years of Bridge Club. She enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening, cooking, entertaining, and most of all, time spent with family and friends. In addition to Bismarck, Elmer and Eleanor spent many happy retirement years between Mesa, AZ, and their cottage in Detroit Lakes, MN. Eleanor is survived by her three sons, John Junell, Bob Julie, Bismarck, and Bill, Grand Forks; four daughters, Jane Allen Klein, Parker, CO, Peggy Mark Tool, Plymouth, MN, Pat Craig Juntti, Duluth, MN, and Ann Gene Ferguson, Wilton, CT; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Bernice Gruchalla, Salem, OR. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elmer; her parents; and her sisters, Helen and Marie. The Roswick family would like to thank the staff at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center for the wonderful care of their mother and grandmother. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary's Central High School.
