Elroy Enzminger

Elroy Ele Enzminger, 73, Bismarck, passed away peacefully, April 23, 2014, at Sanford Health. Services will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 10:00 am at Bismarck Baptist Church, with Rev. Merle Hoots, Rev. Allen Finger, and Rev. Randy Gamer officiating. Burial will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown, ND. Visitation will be on Friday, April 25, from 3:00 – 8:00 pm at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Elroy was born July 29, 1940, in Gackle, ND, to Leo and Ida Ruff Enzminger. The family moved to Jamestown, ND, where he graduated from Jamestown High School. He married Darlene Metzger in 1960. He served in the National Guard from 1959 until 1966. Elroy worked on the Jamestown Police Force from 1961 until 1965 until he became the manager of the Holiday Station Store in Jamestown. He later transferred to Moorhead, MN. In 1975, he bought the Amoco Oil Station in Ada, MN. He owned Ele's Amoco until 1978, when he became the Automotive Dept Manager with Target in Grand Forks and then transferred to the Bismarck store when they opened in 1980. In Bismarck he stayed in management and then went into car sales for Ned Nastrom, Corwin Churchill, and Don Wilhelm. He remained in Bismarck until the time of his passing. Elroy loved spending time with his family. He loved to travel, to hunt and fish, and to camp. He enjoyed time with his extended family at the farm in Medina and Streeter. In his later years, his health limited his travel, but trips to visit his daughters and grandchildren became highlights. He always longed to return home to Bismarck to spend time with his son and his family, and to enjoy his daily coffee time with his coffee buddies at Target and McDonalds. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Darlene, Bismarck; three children, Kevin Enzminger Amy Bismarck, Traci Gamer Randy, Racine, WI, Sara Ashworth Ken Lafayette, IN; 12 grandchildren, Abby Enzminger, Amanda Schafer, Kendrick Schafer, Trisha Reineke, Bismarck, ND, Ashley Gamer, Brittany Gamer, Jared Gamer and Amber Gamer, Racine, WI, Whitney Ashworth, Mikaela Gladden Chandler, Tyler Ashworth, and Chelsey Ashworth, Lafayette, IN; his mother, Ida Enzminger, Jamestown, ND; three sisters, Marlene Dockter Daniel, Medina, ND, Gladys Nitschke Marvin, Dilworth, MN, and Sandy Dumas Ernie, Alma, CO; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Leopold; and one nephew, Jamie Dumas.
