Esther Zinke

Esther M. Zinke, 93, Bismarck, died May 5, 2005 in a local care center. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center Chapel, Bismarck, with the Rev. Dale Naaben officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 9:00 PM Saturday and 3:00 to 9:00 PM Sunday, 9:00 AM to Noon Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service. Esther was born November 25, 1911 at McClusky, the daughter of George and Anna Marie Bronson Lee. She graduated from McClusky High School, attended Valley City Teachers College until marrying Edwin Zinke November 21, 1930. They lived in McClusky until settling in Bismarck in 1940. Esther was employed in the Burleigh County Auditors office for over 30 years where she served as a clerk and deputy auditor. Esther enjoyed dancing with her husband, yard work, gardening and fancy sewing. Her home was always open to relatives and friends who frequently came to enjoy her company and a meal she always was willing to prepare for them. Her home was a gathering place for her children and their friends to hold jam sessions on a regular basis. Esther was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Eagles Auxiliary's and Trinity Lutheran Church. Esther is survived by one daughter, Helen Darryl Schatz, Bismarck; one sister, Gladys Rose, Spokane, Washington; one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" Zinke, Medford, Oregon; eight grandchildren, Darryl Caryn Schatz Jr., Aurora, Illinois, Marty Bob Mazurek, Polson, Montana, Connie Dick Foster, Cascade Locks, Oregon, Mark and Jason Marie Zinke, Portland, Oregon, Victoria Minor, Ted Hulm Jr. and Candice Hulm all of Bismarck; twenty great-grandchildren, Lisa Kevin Michaels, Jacob Schatz, BJ Erica Mazurek, Levi and Andrea Mazurek, Lindsey Nathen Dales,Brintney Foster, Rosalyn Dennis Gringrich, Markus Jeannette Zinke, Keriann, Cassandra and Justin Zinke, Travis Tessaro, Brianna Winger, Alyssa, Jared and Tierra Hulm, Anthony Werner, Kayla and Ashley Seilinger; five great-great-grandchildren, Aiden Michaels, Dennis III and Hannah Gingrich, Jayhla Tessaro and Jaylee Hoiby. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edwin, one daughter, Marilyn, one son Chester, five sisters, Virgil, Marie, Jessie, Viola and Bessie and three brothers, George, Edward and Lincoln. Esther's family would like to thank the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center staff for all the care and love extended to Esther during her time at Missouri Slope. You were all so great, especially as she reached her last days. The family requests the memorials be given to the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center.
