Evelyn House

Evelyn Keller House, 97, Bismarck, went to be with her Lord on June 16, 2007. Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at Calvary Free Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Karry Statsny and Rev. Alvin officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Evelyn was born October 16, 1909, the daughter of Emil and Minnie Keller, 6 miles southeast of New Salem, ND, on her grandmother's Kathryn Lieb farm. She grew up on her parent's farm and received her education in Grant County. She worked in a general store in Almont, ND, then returned to the farm with her parents and was a partner in the operation of the farm. In 1958 she married Rev. Alvin J. House, at the farm home near Almont in Grant County. After their marriage she lived in Montana for two years where her husband was a pastor. They then moved to Lemmon, SD, where they served the Bible Presbyterian Church for five and a half years. In 1965, they moved to Strasburg, ND, to serve the Strasburg Reformed Church for three and a half years and also served the country church, New Kassel Church. In 1969, they moved to Wishek, ND, to serve the Grace Evangelical and Reformed Church and continued to serve to New Kassel Church for ten years. They moved to Bismarck in 1979 to retire. Evelyn was a member of Calvary Free Lutheran Church, also a member of W.M.F. in the church. In addition, she was a member of W.C.T.W. She was very active in various bible study groups and was a member of Steer, Inc. Evelyn is survived by three step-sons, Rev. Alvin House Jr. Dorothy of Hamilton, MT, Robert House Cora Mae of Darby, MT, Edwin House Janet of Florence, MT, and Paul House's wife, Charlene of Darby, MT; one sister-in-law, Ardythe Keller Norman Keller's wife of Bismarck, ND; one niece, Naomi Engelter Robert of New Salem, ND; two nephews, Douglas Keller Clarene of Mandan, ND, and Duane Keller of Bismarck, ND; numerous step-nieces and step-nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; 15 step-grandchildren; and numerous step-great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Alvin House; her parents, Emil and Minnie Keller; one sister, Kathryn Kahovec; one brother, Norman Keller; and one step-son, Paul House. Evelyn was always a cheerful, optimistic, and faithful to her lord and to the ministry. She was a mother figure to many and a loving friend to all who knew her. Evelyn's request was that memorials be given to Calvary Free Lutheran Church, Steer Inc., or Billy Graham ministry.
