Everelle Bakken

Everelle P. Bakken "Red", 88, Bismarck, died May 19, 2014, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, May 22, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. Everelle was born November 20, 1925, in Tioga, ND, the son of Emil and Julia Lokken Bakken. He attended Zion Lutheran Church in Tioga, ND, where he was baptized. At a young age, Everelle moved to Williston with his family. He attended schools in Tioga and Williston. In 1949, Everelle began working for the North Dakota Department of Transportation beginning as a laborer and eventually retiring in 1991 as a superintendent of maintenance. On October 20, 1950, Everelle was united in marriage to Gladys Falcon in Miles City, MT. They have one daughter, Diana. The couple resided in Williston until moving to Bismarck in 2012. Known as "Red" to his family and friends because of his bright red hair, Everelle loved woodworking and made many pieces for his grandchildren, including rocking horses. He also enjoyed traveling and fishing with Gladys, his family, and friends. Red loved driving combines at Diana and Ardean's farm in Williston. He is survived by his wife 63 years, Gladys, Bismarck; his daughter, Diana Ardean Harstad, Bismarck; his grandchildren, David Shannon Harstad, Cooperstown, ND, Michele Robertsdahl Kelsey Moldenhauer, Farmington, MN, Steven Charity Harstad, Bismarck, Amy Matt Haugen, Williston, and Aaron Harstad, Bismarck; great-grandchildren, Mitchel, Michaela, Brie, Andrew, Nicholas, Danielle, Stephen, Alexis, Dominick, Quinn and Elliana; one great-great-granddaughter, Aurora. He is also survived by two brothers, Vernel and Ronald, AZ; one sister, Bernice Kokken, OR; sisters-in-law, Elinor Falcon, Kalispell, MT, Blanche Falcon, Bismarck, ND, and Marie Unger, Williston, ND; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Everelle was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Lindsay; his brother, Orlene; sisters, Eleanor and Joyce; brothers-in-law, Jim, Lawrence, Walter, Finley, Joe, and Mike; and sisters-in-law, Anna "Dolly" and Louise.
