Florentine Fitch

Florentine C. Kuntz Fitch, 88, of Emerald Court, Minot, and formerly of Bismarck, Flasher, and Rutland, died May 22, 2004, at a Minot hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:30 AM at Church of St. Anne in Bismarck. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 PM - 9 PM, Monday from 9 AM - 9 PM, and Tuesday from 9 AM - 9 PM at Boelter-Eastgate Funeral Service, 200 W. Turnpike Ave., Bismarck. A Catholic Daughters Rosary will be held on Monday evening at 7 PM and a Vigil/Rosary Service will be held on Tuesday evening at 7 PM at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Florentine "Florence" was born on June 9, 1915, at Prelate, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Steven and Mary Weinburger. At the age of seven, Florence and her family moved to Mount Angel, Oregon. At the age of nine, they moved to Mandan, North Dakota, where she attended St. Joseph's School in Mandan. On May 22, 1934, Florence married Michael Thomas Kuntz at St. Joseph's Church south of Glen Ullin, North Dakota. They farmed near Timmer, North Dakota. Florence managed the family farm while Michael worked for the railroad. In 1962, Michael was transferred to Rutland, North Dakota, where they bought another farm which Florence also managed. In 1971, Florence and Michael moved to Bismarck. On December 25, 1976, Michael passed away. On January 12, 1985, Florence married Harold Fitch. Florence was a member of Church of St. Anne and various Catholic organizations in Flasher, Rutland, and Bismarck. Her Catholic faith was very important to her and she was dedicated to praying the Rosary. She is survived by her sons, Ronald Kathy Kuntz, Virgil Ruth Kuntz, and Gilbert Patty Kuntz, all of Bismarck; her daughters, Mary Dennis Lingert of Bismarck, Cindy Clem Nelson of Mandan, Michelina George Putnam of Minot, and Darlene Gaylord Helgeson of Minot; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two step-daughters, Kathy Ronald Kuntz of Bismarck and Lynn Don Grant of Fargo; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and five sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Michael Kuntz and Harold Fitch; one grandchild, David Helgeson; one great-grandchild, Hannah Kuntz; one brother; and five sisters.
