Francis Gibson

Francis Ray Gibson, 82, formerly of Twin Valley, MN, died April 14, 2009. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Mr. Bob Bartz officiating. Burial will be held in the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan. Francis was born to Chester and Alice Gibson on August 16, 1926 in Ellendale, ND. Francis served for two years in the Army during World War II, where he received several service medals. After the war he completed a course at North Dakota State School of Science, then went on to obtain a teaching degree from the University of North Dakota. He married Corral Jaster on August 8, 1954. They moved to Twin Valley, MN in 1956 where Francis served as teacher, principal, and guidance counselor for 35 years. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Barbara, Bradley and Jeanine. Francis and his wife were members of Walworth Baptist Church, and for many years Francis was involved in the American Legion and Lions Club. He was a well respected teacher and community member in Twin Valley. Following retirement, Francis and his wife enjoyed spending the winter months in Arizona and California with their children and grandchildren. In February 2008, Francis and Corral moved to Bismarck, ND. Francis will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and brother-in-law. His spirit of strength and dedication will be greatly missed by each and every one of his family and friends. Francis is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Bob Bartz of Pretoria, South Africa; son, Bradley Gibson of Gilbert, AZ; daughter, Jeanine Gibson of Fallbrook, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and William Schandelmeier of Castro Valley, CA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Sharon Urbach of Bismarck, ND; fourgrandchildren, Nathan, Emily, Alexis and Shane; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Corral, on November 30, 2008; his father and mother; his brother, Wayne Gibson; and an infantsibling.
