Glenn Anderson

Glenn J. Anderson, 78, Bismarck, died on November 20, 2007, at his home with his family present. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 26, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Washington Street and Divide Avenue, Bismarck, with Rev. Laurie Natwick officiating. Burial will be at Fairhill Cemetery in Flasher at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck, where prayer services will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Glenn was born on June 14, 1929, in Flasher, ND, to Arvid Sr. and Anna Brandt Anderson. He attended school in Flasher. He married Rena Keith on August 7, 1949. They lived in Garrison for a year before making their permanent home in Bismarck. Rena passed away in 1985. Glenn briefly worked for Ulteig Engineering putting up REA lines. He later took up printing and worked many years for Conrad Publishing, Bismarck Tribune, and United Printing. After retiring, he did a few special print projects for Richtman's Printing. Glenn had a lifelong passion for music. He received his first guitar when he was 10 and by 14 he was well on his way to a musical career that spanned over 60 years. He was part of a band that played on a local radio station in the early 50's. He then had his own country western band "Glenn Anderson and the Twilight Troubadours" for a number of years where he was lead guitarist and singer. Later, he played in several other local bands doing what he loved most - playing music and entertaining. His music touched the lives of so many people, which in turn gave him great joy. His family and friends were a big part of his life. Even though he was hard of hearing, he could hear the slightest unusual noise in a car. So his garage became a gathering place for many where he shared his knowledge and inventive expertise using the two most resourceful tools: duct tape and WD-40. He also enjoyed playing pool, bingo, dancing, dancing, and more dancing. With everyone he met, he enjoyed good conversation, would share a joke or two, show them his unique ND money clip, and hand them one of his special business cards. Glenn was a member of the Musician's Association, Communication Workers of America Typographical Union, and the Elks Club, Moose Club and Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He is survived by four children, Terrie Anderson, Laramie, WY, Gary and Donna Anderson, Bismarck, Glenda and Tim Anderson, Menoken, and Karen Baggenstoss, Bismarck; his eight grandsons, David Ashley Kling, Jeff Kling, Joshua Anderson, Devan Anderson, Aaron Anderson, Jason Anderson, Justin Baggenstoss, and Brandon Baggenstoss; his great-grandson, Connor Kling; his three brothers, Merle, Marvin, and Arvid Jr. Anderson; his former son-in-law, Randy Baggenstoss who always called him "Pa"; and his special friends, Bernice Hickel, Vern "Brother" and Eileen Anderson, and Mike Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harold Dauber; and his sister, Dorothy Rome. On behalf of Glenn, thank you for giving him the opportunity to play for your weddings, anniversaries, and many other special events over the last 60 years. It is what he truly loved doing. Thank you to the doctors at Mid Dakota Clinic, St. Alexius Hospital, and the St. Alexius Hospice program for your care and compassion. Thank you to everyone who expressed your thoughts and prayers for Glenn. It meant so much to him and our families. Memorials may be made to the St. Alexius Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
