Harold "Harry" Kohler

Harold "Harry" Kohler, 76, Bismarck, died December 8, 2007, at a Bismarck hospital. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Church of Corpus Christi in Bismarck with Rev. Charlie Heidt and Rev. Tom Krupich officiating. Burial will be at ND Veteran's Cemetery. A vigil service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Harry was born on September 26, 1931, in Cuba, ND, to Joseph and Mae Schwehr Kohler. He grew up in the Oriska and Tower City areas, graduating from Tower City Public School in 1948. After graduation, Harry enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he was a ship's electrician. He was in the Navy for four years serving in the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean. Upon his return, he attended Moorhead State College, graduating in 1958. He then worked in various sales positions. In 1964, he began working as principal of Solen Public School and later became superintendent. In 1969, he accepted a job with Mary College University of Mary. Following that, Harry worked as a realtor in Bismarck for more than twenty years. He was very active with several community organizations. Family was everything to Harry. He was united in marriage to Mary Krupich on September 18, 1954, in Fargo, ND. During their 53 years of marriage, Harry and Mary were blessed with six children, twelve grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Harry is survived by his wife, Mary of Bismarck; his daughter, Suzanne "Sam" Les Witkowski of Bismarck, and their children, Kyle and Christopher; his daughter, Lisa Charlie Blevins of Forsyth, MT, and their children, Danny, Rachel, Courtney, and Chris Annie and their children, Kerstyn and Max; his son, Paul Janee Kohler of Bismarck and their children, Lindsey and her daughter Gracie; Molly, and Ella; his son, Kelly Donna Kohler of Bismarck and their children, Andrew, Alexis, and Ryan; his brothers, Kenneth Jeanie Kohler of Valley City, ND, Lyle Ione Kohler of Winslow, AZ, Bob Linda Kohler of Moorehead, MN, Richard Diane Kohler of Valley City, ND, and Ron Toni Kohler of Tower City, ND; his sisters, Marlys Norbert Kosir of West Fargo, ND, Betty Rick McClaflin of Tower City, ND, and Mary Curt Richman of Lake Park, MN; his brothers-in-law, Rich Krupich and Ron Audrey Krupich, all of Park Rapids, MN; his sister-in-law, Gin Pat McDonald of Vista, CA; and many nieces, nephews, and friends, including his very special friend, Karen Macdonald. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Chris; his son, Joe; his parents, Joe and Mae Kohler; his sisters, Joanne and Eileen; and his brother, Lorney. Harry will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Anyone wishing to send memorials may send them to St. Jude's Hospital or Ronald McDonald House.
