Harry Lambrecht

Harry N. Lambrecht was born into Heaven on September 26, 2007. He fought a long hard battle for many years following a major stroke. He was hospitalized on Wednesday with pneumonia; his passing took place at MedCenter One Health Systems. Services will be held at 10 AM on Monday at Shepherd of the Valley Church, 801 E. Denver Ave., Bismarck, with Rev. Les Wolfgram officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck, ND. Harry was born in Lisbon, ND, on December 22, 1935, to Mike and Neva Cooper Lambrecht. He was raised and educated in Lisbon. He graduated from St. Johns College in Winfield, KS. He then went to Concordia Theology Seminary in St. Louis, MO. While there, he met and married Carol Mueller on November 30, 1957. They moved to Valley City where he attended Valley City State Teacher's College and graduated with a teaching degree. Harry and Carol moved to Kulm, ND, where they started their family. He also began his teaching career that took them to Wishek, ND, where he taught school, ranched, and served proudly as mayor for two terms. Several years later he met and married Jan Winborn on December 22, 1989, they had a home south of Mandan. This is where he developed his love of gardening, planting, and nurturing fruit trees, primarily apple. He also worked at perfecting his recipes for sausage and jerky from a variety of wild game he or his sons, Craig and Gene, would hunt; he would then process the game himself. It was also during this time that Harry taught for three years at Fort Yates College. He then became an independent insurance agent. Harry is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Jewel, Bismarck, ND, and Gene and JoAnn, Rhode Island; five grandchildren, Tabatha, Aidan, London, Tovah, and Afton; one sister, Phyllis Davis, Fargo, ND; several nieces and nephews; and the love of his life, Jan Lambrecht, Bismarck, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents; two infant daughters, Kelly Ann and Linda Kay; and one sister, Barbara Rice. Harry loved his church, sobriety almost 40 years, and his family of which has always been a source of great pride, and his devoted pets.
