Harvey Wald

Harvey M. Wald, 61, Bismarck, died January 29, 2005, in a Bismarck hospital. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 12:30 PM at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck with Rev. Thomas Kramer officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service where a rosary will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Harvey was born on May 5, 1943, in Napoleon, North Dakota, the son of Stanley and Helena Bosch Wald. He grew up in rural Kintyre on the family farm and attended school at Assumption Abby in Richardton and graduated from St. Anthony High School in Linton. Harvey graduated from Capital Commercial College in Bismarck in 1962. He married LuElla Ternes on June 3, 1967. He worked as a finance manager until his retirement due to disability in 1977. Harvey was a member of the North Dakota Association of the Blind, the Bismarck/Mandan Elks Club, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a licensed North Dakota auctioneer and an avid card player who was difficult to beat. He enjoyed woodworking, a hobby he took up after losing his sight. He was a member of Cathedral Parish since 1972. Harvey taught us all the meaning of courage through adversity. Throughout his life, even though he suffered with so many health problems, he didn't complain. He was always more concerned about his family than himself. Family was the most important thing to him and everyone who knew him knew that. He touched so many people during his life and he will not soon be forgotten by any of them. He is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, LuElla, and his daughter, Connie, and her husband, Patrick Flanagan, and a very special granddaughter, Cori. He is also survived by his mother, Helena Wald of Linton; two sisters, Sister Siena Wald of California, and Luella and Jack Klein of Linton; two brothers, Isadore and Margaret Wald of Kintyre, and Mark and Becky Wald of Mandan; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley. Memorials may be made to the North Dakota Association of the Blind.
