Hazel Berg

Hazel Berg, 84, Bismarck, died July 5, 2004, at a Bismarck hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Columbus, North Dakota, with the Rev. Dean Arbs officiating. Burial will be at Scandia Lutheran Church Cemetery in Powers Lake, North Dakota. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM at Eastgate Funeral Service with a prayer service for family and friends at 7:00 PM led by Ron Getsman. Hazel Pasche was born on September 1, 1919, on the family farm near Columbus, North Dakota, the daughter of Otto and Ellen Kihle Pasche. She was raised and attended schools near Columbus. She married Odmar Berg in Columbus where they made their home until 1966. They moved to Hazen where they resided until 1990 when they moved to Bismarck. Odmar died in 1993 and Hazel continued living in Bismarck. She loved being with her family and friends, whether playing a tough game of spoons or pounce, or going on one of her many shopping trips. Hazel enjoyed being with people and she enjoyed life. Hazel and the girls had an annual shopping trip planned and although she claimed that this year she might not keep up, as long as the lights were on in the stores, she kept on going. Hazel was a caring person who left a legacy of love and good times as memories for her family. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Eileen Berg of Larimore, North Dakota; her daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Earl Haugenoe of Williston, DeAnn Berg and Shannon Sauer of Bismarck, and Janet and Bob Rahn of Moorhead, Minnesota; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn Pasche of Williston, Myrtle and Leonard Storhaug of Great Falls, Montana, and Ardys and Dela Vega of Williston; her brother, Harold Pasche of Williston; her grandchildren, Larinda Darin Hirschkorn, Jodi Dave Mautz, Mandy Steve Drewlo, Randy Karla Haugenoe, Rob Tracey Haugenoe, Justin Sauer, Lindsey Sauer, Danielle Rahn, and Nick Rahn; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant brother; and an infant sister.
