Helen Kubisiak

Helen Hauck Kubisiak, 88, Bismarck, passed away December 22, 2014, at St. Vincent's Care Center, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 27, at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr. Gene Lindemann officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 am Monday, December 29, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Friday, December 26, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Helen was born December 13, 1926, in Richardton, ND, the daughter of Michael and Otillia Fleckenstein Hauck. She grew up in Richardton before moving to Bismarck where she worked at A. W. Lucas Company's cosmetic department before opening her own apparel shop, known as Helen's Fashion First, located on Main Street in downtown Bismarck. She was one of the very few women business owners in the early 1960's in Bismarck. In 1960, Helen married Theodore "Ted" Kubisiak, whom she met at the Lucas Company. The two greatly enjoyed dancing and enjoyed many evenings at the dance clubs in downtown Bismarck and on the strip in Mandan. Helen and Ted had four children. In the early 1970's, Helen continued her entrepreneurial endeavors opening, The Style Mart, in her hometown of Richardton and eventually her and Ted opened, The Ranger Café, there also. Helen was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed nothing greater than trying to make her family happy. She was an excellent cook, carrying on many of the German dough-dish recipes she learned from her mother and which her children and grandchildren longed for every time they would visit. Helen loved dancing, dressing up, and was seldom ever seen without lipstick and earrings. Helen is survived by her four children, Karen Vince Selensky, Bismarck, Kevin Janet Kubisiak, Bismarck, Gerard Debra Kubisiak, Lakeville, MN, and Paula John Jossart, Shakopee, MN; her grandchildren, Kourtney and Katelyn Selensky, Timothy and Thomas Kubisiak, Alexandra and Makayla Kubisiak, and Delaney and Cambelle Jossart; and one sister, Rose Marie Hauck. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, who died in July 2014; her parents; her sister, Minnie Gress; and her brother, Adam Hauck.
